D’Resort @ Downtown East
We recently packed up the kids and shifted a whole couple of miles down the road to Singapore’s first integrated water resort and all round eco-friendly staycation pick, D’Resort @ Downtown East. We plumped for an Underwater Themed Room (Rainforest Family) which was not only a good size for our fam of five, but also had some nice touches for the younger kids (the themed bunk beds and decor, plus a treasure chest filled with goodies, were a big hit). Add in the neighbouring Wild Wild Wet water park extraordinaire, easy access to the beach and surrounding nature areas, and even its own urban garden, and you’ve got yourself an easy-peasy weekend winner.

Marina Bay Sands
Let’s be honest, we all want to try a staycation at Marina Bay Sands, and we know the kids would be over the moon to land a weekend break in one of Singapore’s most iconic buildings! Family rooms for two adults and two kids have plenty of space for your gang to get a great slumber (one king bed and two singles), and we love that it has a sofa: hello, movie night! Don’t forget to catch the nightly light show on the marina, check out the neighbouring ArtScience Museum, and hop across the bridge to Gardens by the Bay. Also: THAT infinity pool.

At the more affordable end of the family staycay scale, Holiday Inn Singapore Atrium offers a special ‘Fam-tastic’ weekend staycation package – perfect! Also just a few minutes walk away are the great cafes of Robertson Quay (think Toby’s Estate and Kith almost on your doorstep), so if you fancy a stroll or scoot by the river, this is the place to be.

Orchard Rendezvous Hotel
Now here’s a fam-friendly location we’re well on board with for a lovely little staycay: The Orchard Rendezvous Hotel. Extend your urban adventures in Singapore’s fabulous shopping district and dive into kid-friendly eateries and awesome activities before an overnight stay in this newly–refurbished hotel. Orchard Rendezvous Hotel is THE perfect place for a night or two of rest and relaxation after a jam-packed day of adventure. As relaxing as it can be with kids anyway… Book a roomy Family Room, which comes with two types of bedding configurations (one king bed + one single bed, or one king bed + one bunk bed), or plump for an even more spacious Family Suite (one king bed + two single beds + a separate dining area). Either way, there’s plenty of space to stretch out (and stash all those shopping bags!), and the rooms also come with a balcony: perfect for unwinding on after the kiddos are tuckered out asleep. Make sure you check out the outdoor swimming pool to cool off in after a day of exploration, the in-house restaurants serving up Chinese, Western and Japanese fare, and a decadent club lounge that has recently had a spiffy overhaul. Decadence is what you’ll find on the menu at the beautiful Capella Singapore, and with its spacious suites, amazing views, resident peacocks and outdoor pools set among lush greenery, this hotel is one of the best we’ve had the pleasure of staying in. The top-notch spa and the mouthwatering breakfasts help too (Champagne with your breakfast? Totally yes!). Our advice? If you can, ditch the kids and soak this one up all for yourself (we did!). If you do decide to bring the small humans, it is currently running the Stay and Play package for families which includes daily breakfast for two adults and two kids, tickets for Universal Studios Singapore (up to two adults and two kids) and evening movie with popcorn for one night.

We’ve long waxed lyrical about how much fun we have on a day out around Sentosa, so staying the night is the icing on the cake when it comes to a family adventure close to home. The Festive Hotel ticks all the boxes for a kid-friendly stay: check out the Deluxe Family King Room complete with colourful loft beds and sofa beds for the smaller guests. Relaxing poolside in a cabana while the kids make use of the pool and water play area sounds just the ticket to us after a busy day. Did we mention there’s also babysitting…

Take the fam out for some fun over the upcoming school holidays. Pan Pacific has got a family suite complete with a kiddo’s tent (teepee) and amenities to keep them entertained, all packed in a mini suitcase. Beat the heat with a dip in the hotel pool (and borrow the hotel’s floats!) or spend the afternoon browsing Suntec City, Marina Square or Millenia Walk next door. Let the munchkins end the day with a relaxing soak in the bathtub, complete with toys, pint-sized bathrobes and bedroom slippers… ooo, er!

Gallop Kranji Farm Resort
While there might not be tons of farm visits to pick from here in Singapore, getting away for a break in the countryside is easy peasy with a staycay at Gallop Kranji Farm Resort. And let’s just pop this here from the get-go: there’s a spa! So while you head off for a well-earned facial, pack the kids off with Dad to ride a pony, feed the koi, work off some energy in the indoor play area and then cool off in the water theme playground. Meet up later for the Aquaponic fish farm tour, and then learn about the birds responsible for the Asian delicacy, bird’s nest soup – not your average staycay experience! Accommodation is villa-style and spot-on for families – take a look at a Family Suite, which comes complete with steam room, jacuzzi, four queen-sized beds and breakfast! Not got anyone to look after your dogs while you are away? Bring them with you! Accommodation is pet-friendly, as is the onsite Ulu Ulu Pets Cafe!

A whimsical adventure is the name of the staycation game when it comes to the themed and family Rooms at Furama Riverfront. Each room comes with snazzy bunk beds and is decked out in either a pirate, underwater or castle theme: the in-room XBOX games console seals the deal! The rest of the hotel loves kids, too – a huge playroom, swimming pools with inflatables and a play area at The Square restaurant will all be a big hit for the whole gang.
