We list our pick of top-rated malls in Singapore for everything a family could want.
Shopping is Singapore’s national pastime – followed very closely by eating, of course! So it’s safe to say we’re spoilt for choice when it comes to shopping malls. But not all retail hubs are created equal, especially if you’re a parent trying to shop with a few hectic kids in tow. We know life after kids means waving goodbye to weekends spent leisurely browsing boutiques. Our key criteria for finding the best mall as a mum include baby-changing and nursing facilities, accessible lifts, play areas, and generous car parking spaces. (Yep, we’re all about avoiding that horrifying moment your child dents the car next to you.) Throw in a kids-eat-free deal at fab eateries, and we’re happy as a clam! So, without further ado, here are some of our fave family-friendly shopping malls in Singapore.
Our favourite family-friendly shopping malls in Singapore
Punggol Coast Mall

One of the newest malls in the northeast, it’s the hottest spot for family fun. With over 120 restaurants and retail shops, there’s no end to adventure. Kiddies with tons of energy to burn can explore Wan To Play’s underwater-themed indoor playground while mum and dad chill at a cafe like White Cloud Cafe or Kopifellas Cafe. Lunch or dinner will always be an adventure with a bunch of different cuisines to try, like Sushi-GO, Din Tai Fung, Hajun Korean, and so much more.

Plaza Singapura

An oldie but a goodie is centrally located Plaza Singapura. It’s our go-to destination when we’re buying birthday party supplies – and any other time really as we’re just quietly obsessed with haberdashery giant Spotlight. For your next craft project, stock up on craft supplies at everyone’s fave, Daiso. They’ve got tons of food options, or if you’re just looking for a sweet treat, they have fan favourites like Chagee and Starbucks. There’s even a Golden Village right on the top floor if the fam wants to catch the latest movie.

Jewel Changi Airport

Jewel Changi Airport is one of our favourite shopping malls of all time! There’s the massive indoor waterfall which always leaves kids and adults in awe, the amazing Canopy Park, for fun indoor play and of course, all the great restaurants and retail shops available. Plus, Jewel has made quite a name for themselves among parents in Singapore as having some of the best mall nursing rooms on the island – the one at level four even boasts views of the nearby Skytrain!

VivoCity

We love VivoCity because we can tell some serious thought has been put into making it an utter magnet for families. Apart from stores like Toys“R”Us, Cotton On Kids and H&M, you can rent a safari-themed animal ride from ZOOMOOV to get around. Parenting rooms are dotted liberally throughout the mall – complete with a breastfeeding chair, nappy-changing area and boiling water for heating that urgent bottle or baby food! Once you’ve had your retail therapy, unleash the kiddos at the open-air mall playground on level two. Still got energy to spare? Explore the level three Sky Park, check out the amazing library@harbourfront, or go wild at Timezone, which even has mini bowling and bumper cars. And, if you want to make a day of it, catch the monorail over the water to Sentosa! Psst: Our tip – go mid-week or at opening time on the weekend.

Tanglin Mall
We love Tanglin Mall, and judging by the number of Bugaboos whizzing around it, it’s safe to say we’re not the only ones. Level three is where it’s at for new parents, with Mother & Child prenatal and postnatal services. Just around the corner, there’s a dedicated babycare room with everything you need for your little one – it even has private breastfeeding rooms with soft armchairs. Stand-out stores include The Little Showcase, Tango Mango, and The Better Toy Store. Stock up on all your organic food and groceries at Scoop Wholefoods.

If you’re a Hip Kids’ Club member, you’ll have access to the indoor playground on level two. Family-friendly favourites Jade Palace Seafood Restaurant and Social Place are also at Forum The Shopping Mall, where you can get your dim sum fill. Hankering for desserts? The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands is the go-to shopping mall for everything luxury. So, if you have cash to splash, head over and check out kids’ fashion stores such as Kids 21. With tinier tots in tow, the mall has six family rooms, complete with diaper-changing stations, washbasins, hot water dispensers, disposable diaper bags and comfy seating if you just need to take a breather. It’s also got dedicated Cotton On Kids and H&M Kids outlets and a huge Toys “R” Us on the second level. We love the soufflé pancakes at Hoshino Coffee (it’s right next to Toys “R” Us) for a snack and the coffee, of course.
