Our Tampines Hub is your one-stop shop for all the family fun you could possibly need...
Have you headed over to Our Tampines Hub lately? It’s home to one of our favourite libraries, some cool indoor activities for kids and a huge sports field! If you haven’t hit the Hub yet, here are five reasons why you should be heading over, stat.
1. Food, glorious food!
Top-notch food at affordable prices is what the huge array of eateries here is all about. We’re especially loving the 800-seater hawker centre serving up our fave local dishes 24 hours a day! There are familiar old favourites including Pizza Hut, Starbucks and Toast Box, as well as some pretty neat looking cafes such as Eatz19, serving up pasta, sandwiches and salads. Stop by Out of the Cake Box for a sweet treat – you’ll find unique flavours including mango sticky rice and chendol. If these aren’t enough choices for you, bring the fam over to Festival Mall, located at Basement 1 and Level 1!
2. Catch a free movie!
We always look forward to the latest blockbuster movies, but getting to the cinema with the kids in tow isn’t always easy. Which is why Festival Plaza at Our Tampines Hub is our go-to place for a fun family film – it’s free and with plenty of space to run around if (more like when) the kids get bored, you won’t be feeling hard done by over a wasted ticket price! Also look out for the regular live performances, competitions and sports activities.
3. Bring your bookworms to the library
It’s no secret that the old Tampines Regional Library used to have a big place in our weekly schedule with the kiddos, and we were more than a little bereft when the doors closed on that reading train. But we are SO pleased to report that the newer, bigger, bolder version is a big hit for the whole famalam. This place is ENORMOUS! Free up a few hours to spend exploring the five floors of books, audio and visual materials, magazines and more. There’s also a cooking studio, PIXEL labs, regular storytelling sessions, exhibitions and guided tours. Alas, the full-sized train has retired, but there’s more than enough going on to make up for the locomotive’s absence.
4. Cool off with water play
A water playground and rooftop swimming pool where the whole family can cool off from just 80c per person? If that’s not value for money, we don’t know what is. There’s also a gym in the same location, which will set you back a tiny bit more, from just $1.50 a session! Keeping fit just got ridiculously cheaper and easier.
5. Go climbing – and then try a laser challenge
We already tried out and reviewed this indoor play addition to the Tampines area, and with its 19 themed climbing walls, Clip ‘n’ Climb is an action-packed climbing theme park that is suitable for wannabe Spideys of all ages (minimum weight is 10kg). Once you’ve scaled the lofty heights of the walls, you’ll also find a fun-packed laser tag activity that will give the kids the perfect chance to fight their battles without you having to get too involved…
6. Chill out at the Chill Zone or bounce the day away at the Kids’ Play Zone
Once you’re done with all the activities, head over to the Chill Zone on Level 4 to just hang out or borrow board games from the Information Counter. But if the kids still have energy to burn, let them let loose on the bouncy castle or check out the latest animated features on the LED screen!
7. And that’s not all…
If you’re not ready for your day at Our Tampines Hub to end yet, there’s an Eco-Community Garden to check out with its own Wormery. There’s even an elevated jogging track, a Sky Garden with awesome views of Town Square and BBQ pits!
