International sports, arts galore and even a unicorn party – it’s all in this week’s 10 things to do!
Is it us, or has this week been a really long one? Thankfully, the weekend is inching ever closer, which means we’re all going to need a full schedule of exciting activities to try with the kids. Check out one of the coolest sports events to hit Singapore in a while, plus the chance to hang out with pooches and some drop-in, free and fun craft opps. It’s all in our round-up…
1. Get your hakas at the ready for a fam-friendly sporting event
It’s Rugby 7s weekend and we can’t wait to get in on the international sporting fun, meet-and-greets and carnival atmosphere! Whether you’re a rugby novice or a seasoned pro, this event is so family-friendly there’ll be non-stop action for all the entire weekend. Read our mini-guide before heading down… Cheer loud, people, and get ready to rock, ruck and rumble!

2. Bring your kids and fur-kids for a picnic and movie
If you’re looking for your paw-fect binge TV buddy, head to the Netflix & Woof adoption drive, a joint collaboration with Netflix and Save Our Street Dogs Singapore (SOSD). Even if you aren’t quite ready to take on a pet, catch the family activities and park yourself on a Netflix picnic mat for a screening of ‘Benji’. This is, of course, a dog-friendly event!

3. Experience a French aerial circus!
Catch …Sodade… By Cirque Rouages, a captivating French aerial circus that’s part of the Singapore International Festival of the Arts (SIFA 2018). Watch as two musicians tell a tale of love and loss, performed on a unique circus structure involving huge wheels and a tightrope cable. Each show lasts around 50 minutes.

4. Celebrate International Unicorn Day
Now here’s a magical event for all small (and large) unicorn fans: Unicorn Day at Tiny Rabbit Hole! Feast on unicorn-themed snacks, take part in unicorn-themed workshops, win unicorn-themed prizes and pop into the photo booth which is, you’ve guessed it, unicorn-themed! Did we mention that the whole event is unicorn-themed?

5. Join the Family Fun Day at National Museum of Singapore
The National Museum of Singapore has long been on our hit list of family-friendly museums. The fun is being ramped up this weekend with interactive tours, storytelling sessions, family workshops, pop-up performances and drop-in crafts, including basket weaving. All for free!

6. Brush up on your French language skills
For an alternative cinema date, hop over to the Alliance Francaise de Singapour for a screening of ‘Le vent dans les roseaux’ (The Wind in the Reeds) as part of the ‘Voilah! French Festival 2018’. It’s a tale about eight-year-old Eliette who is part of a fantasy world where music has been banned and a rebellion must begin. Gripping stuff, and great for the kids to brush up on their linguist skills.

7. Ditch the car and load up on fun
‘Car-Free Sunday’ is back! This time it’s moved out of the CBD and into the west coast, all set for a day chock-a-block with good ol’ fashioned fun. We’re talking a carnival, stilt walkers, air hockey, live performances, street eats and even the chance to rub shoulders with star players from the Singapore Premier League. There’ll also be free aerobics, Zumba and urban street cycling sessions to try out with the fam.

8. Unleash your creative streak at an arts festival
As part of the infinitely cool NAFA Arts Festival 2018, the Love 2 LEARN Arts Market, which will be happening this weekend, is set to put a crafty smile on everyone’s faces. Expect hands-on opps for painting and experimental drawing, as well as live painting demos, singing performances and a whole heap of art-related activities.

9. Create a unique piece of jewellery with your little ones
With Mother’s Day coming up fast (don’t forget to send the hubs our guide to all the best brunches), we’re definitely looking forward to this year’s latest in macaroni necklace gifts. In the meantime though, head to a special Mother’s Day edition of Art in the Park where you and your little person can whip up a fashion statement of your own using wooden beads and a whole lot of creativity when it comes to handmade mummy jewellery.

10. Grab your last chance to see treasures from London’s Natural History Museum
This is your last chance to catch Treasures of the Natural World, a travelling exhibition from London’s Natural History Museum – it’s packing up and shipping out after 29 April. Sad face.
