Hint: this isn’t the first time that Brighton College (Singapore) has brought home the Best Small School of Singapore award.
When it comes to using technology for learning, Brighton College (Singapore) is tops! The judges have voted it as the gold winner for the Digital Technology in Learning Award in this year’s Singapore Education Awards. On top of that, the school has won Best Small School in Singapore for the third year in a row!
Digital citizenship is part of the curriculum at Brighton College
The Digital Technology in Learning Award recognises schools that prepare pupils for the future through digital learning and state-of-the-art infrastructure. Brighton College wowed the judges by going beyond that to have a fully embedded Digital Citizenship curriculum. This curriculum is derived from Common Sense Media (a non-profit organisation that provides ratings for media and technology), supplemented with resources from 1Decision and the PSHE Association. This ensures pupils at Brighton College understand how to use technology safely and responsibly.
Pupils in Years 2 to 6 are equipped with iPads, while its Senior School (soon welcoming pupils for Years 9-13) will provide pupils with Macbooks for their lessons. All classrooms at Brighton College are also fitted with interactive whiteboards and Apple TV. The school has a MakerLab to cater to co-curricular activities (CCAs) that focus on STEM and STEAM learning. This lab is a treasure trove of latest gadgets for learning, including VR headsets, robotics, and 3D printers. All these are employed to help pupils develop their academic skills while allowing them to pursue their interests.
Plus, this cool school even has a robot that greets pupils and visitors at the main reception of its Prep School!
A small school that’s big on quality
Starting with 36 pupils in 2020 to now catering to ten times that number, Brighton College has certainly come a long way. It won gold within the first year of its establishment in 2021, and silver for two consecutive years.
Every child feels heard, accepted, and nurtured in Brighton College, thanks to its lovely teachers. Described as the “heart and soul” of the school, its teachers go above and beyond their duty to create a safe and supportive environment for their pupils. The parent representatives and student councils play a part in making sure its community’s voices are heard too. A good example is Brighton College’s New Curiosity Shop, which is created based on pupils’ feedback and requests.
Despite being small in terms of population, Brighton College has a large campus filled with amazing facilities. These facilities support its pupils’ academic progress and a vast number of CCAs. At Brighton College, every pupil is given the opportunity to be inspired and challenged to achieve their very best.
Why we love Brighton College
The judges aren’t the only ones who think highly of Brighton College; its pupils’ parents also have loads of good reviews. From making families feel welcome even before joining, to its great teaching and support team, the school is a favourite among families. We’re so happy for Brighton College’s win!
