It isn’t even open yet, but the Ashtons are already raving about Brighton College (Singapore)’s campus. Here’s why…
Living in Singapore, we’re all spoilt for choice when it comes to international schools – which makes the decision process a wee bit harder. But finding an international school that has both a storied history AND an ethos that strives to turn out well-educated, respectful and intellectually curious students? Now that’s hard to find. These reasons, among many others, are precisely why the Ashtons chose Brighton College (Singapore) for their daughters, Alexis and Maddie. Here’s what else they had to say:
Hi Gavin and Emily! Tell us more about your decision process and what led you to finally choose Brighton College (Singapore)?
This August, our two daughters, Alexis (8) and Maddie (6), will be joining Brighton College. We wanted our daughters to be supported to reach their full potential but wanted them to do so in an environment that is caring and nurturing. It was the quality of interactions from start to finish with all of the team at Brighton College (Singapore) that confirmed our decision. Also, our girls loved their assessment day there and were immediately placed at ease.
Starting from our initial contact with Brighton, the team has made every step of the process smooth, which makes life so much easier for us as parents. Before we commenced the application process, the team took time to get to know our children – their interests, likes and dislikes.
What are your daughters most excited about?
Our children are excited to be part of the first intake of students. They have commented that as everyone will be new, it will be easy to make friends. Alexis will enjoy the school being smaller so that she can quickly get to know everyone and Maddie will love the outdoor play areas.
What about yourselves, as parents?
The ethos our children will be privy to. We feel happy because we know our children will be taught in an environment that will celebrate their strengths as individuals. Our children will be encouraged to take risks, make mistakes, grow in confidence and become more resilient as a result.
We think Brighton College (Singapore) is a great school because the fantastic teaching and support team cares about each individual child and their holistic development. The UK branch has a phenomenal reputation and the groups have successfully rolled out this model in other countries already which, in our opinion, makes them experts.
Do you have any advice for parents trying to choose a school?
Make sure you fully research the curriculum you think will best suit your child. You really need to experience the environment to help with decision-making – it’s a decision made with your head, heart and instincts.
How has the school made your children feel welcome?
The first time we visited the school, we took Alexis and Maddie with us and the focus of the school team was to directly communicate with them. The connections were there in an instant. Conversation was with them, not about them, and that was so important to help our children feel valued and included.
Thank you, Gavin and Emily!
