And that’s a wrap, people! After months of nominating, voting and judging, the inaugural Singapore Education Awards 2021 – brought to you by HoneyKids Asia – has finally come to a close. In this awards series, we celebrated the outstanding achievements, efforts and contributions of Singapore’s best international schools, based on the assessments of our panel of expert judges. And yes, your votes made a difference too! You helped us recognise and honour the standout principals and teachers in Singapore who really deserve a shoutout. For this year’s inaugural Singapore Education Awards, we enlisted the help of education industry experts, academics and consultants to assess and identify Singapore’s top international schools. They tirelessly evaluated the performance of each international school based on their academic performance, student engagement, campus culture, people and more!
Nizar Ahmed Abubacker
Nizar Ahamed Abubacker boasts more than 20 years of experience as a Lecturer, Academic Head and currently as the CEO of Academies Australasia College (AAC). The Academies Australasia Group has 17 colleges in Australia, as well as AAC Singapore, which is the only college in Asia. Nizar has worked in Malaysia, Singapore, Sultanate of Oman, India, Uzbekistan and China, and has taught students from more than 50 different countries.
Divya Samtani
Divya Samtani is the co-founder and CEO of Savvy Sapiens, a platform dedicated to helping young adults prepare themselves for a future of authentic success. Through in-school workshops and online programmes, she equips students with the self-awareness and resilience skills they need to feel confident in themselves and preparedness to face any challenge that comes their way. Divya has a background in working with corporate innovation teams and start-ups, helping them bring cutting-edge ideas to life and foster a more entrepreneurial culture and mindset.
Anne Murphy
Anne Murphy is the Director of Educational Services at ITS Education Asia (ITS). She is the founder of the first independent school admissions consultancy in Hong Kong, and in 2012, she took her Education Consultancy Services to Singapore. Anne is also the Chief Editor of The Unique Asia Schools Guide. She offers talks and presentations on international school admissions to corporate companies and private organisations, as well as education events and seminars in Hong Kong and Singapore. Anne has also worked in private school admissions and has taught in both international and local schools in Hong Kong and China up to University level.
Anne-Maree Soon
Anne-Maree Soon has over 15 years of recruitment and employment services experience in Australia and Asia, with proven success in partnering with business leaders to optimise organisational effectiveness across a variety of sectors and functions. Anne-Maree has spent the last 7 years recruiting for mid to senior appointments for the international education sector, covering academic and non-academic positions for international schools, higher education providers and education consultancies. Her talent pool covers candidates in Asia, Australia, UK, USA and Canada.
