Family fun runs, kids’ dashes and performance challenges in Singapore for 2018

Singapore-Kindness-Run Family Fun Runs
Time to lace up and get the family moving: ready, steady... go!

This year we’ve vowed to try and get up, dressed and out the door way faster, head outdoors more, AND attempt to get into better physical shape – affordably! And while exploring the parks and neighbourhoods around the island, and checking off the best playground list will get us so far with our plans, we think we’ve found just the thing to ace it all: We need to strap on our trainers, head to a starting line and go for gold! Yep: family fun runs and marathons in Singapore: we have you in our sights.

1. A spot of sightseeing around Gardens by the Bay, blinker lights for the kids and some friendly family competition are what you can expect on then 5km Fun Run at the Marina Run.
When: 10 February 2018
Minimum age: 5 years

2. Here’s the chance to feel fit and auspicious: Celebrate the 10th day of the Lunar New Year with a gentle 3.8km family stroll on the Prosperity Walk 2018 from Marina Barrage – the paw-fect way to spend a Sunday!
When: 25 February 2018
Minimum age: No minimum age  – and strollers are welcome too!

3. We know a thing or two about rock hunting, so this city-wide scavenger hunt sounds right up our Singapore street! You’ll need to download the free app for the District Race, and then team up with the kids to try and make it to as many of the 80 checkpoints as possible. All in two hours! No pressure to keep up, mum… Psst, get ahead of the competition at the free trial run happening this coming 5 to 11 February.
When: 3 March 2018
Minimum age: No minimum age

4. Celebrate the power of your daily cuppa at Run for Good Coffee, and when you get to the finish line reward that early morning exertion by browsing a Farmers’ Market and indulging in a well-earned cup of free coffee (juice for the kiddos). There’s a 2km and 3.5km run to choose from.
4 March 2018
Minimum age: 7 years

5. Now here’s a challenge for sturdy small legs – the Relay For Life 100km walk or run is happening all through the night in aid of Singapore Cancer Society. Kiddos age under 12 years must be accompanied by an adult, so if you quit before they do, you’re NEVER going to hear the end of it… There are plenty of other cool activities happening for the fam-members who don’t fancy such a big challenge, including a carnival and battle arena.
When:  10-11 March 2018
Minimum age: 6 years

6. This is the eighth outing of the hugely popular Terry Fox Run: a race that aims to promote cancer awareness and raise funds to help towards a cancer-free future. There are no race packs for this one, buy a t-shirt and you’re in the race! Kids of all ages are welcome on the 5km non-competitive fun run, and fur-kids can join in too!
When: 18 March 2018
Minimum age: No minimum age.

7. The Spartan Kids Race over at firm Sentosa favourite, Palawan Green, will test the small people to their mad-scrambling limits on a seriously awesome obstacle course! They can try either the 800m or the 1.6km races and will not only come back full of smiles, but full of mud too…
When: 24 March 2018
Minimum age: 4 years

8. Listening to pumping tunes while we’re in the running zone definitely helps, so we think the Music Run could guarantee our fastest result yet! Boogie with the ‘lil ones to ultimate running tracks while you complete a 5km race that kids of any age are welcome to join  – strollers too!
When: 21 April 2018
Minimum age: No minimum age.

9. Why stop at one race when you can run four? The Performance Series will be held all around Singapore (so a great opp for some sightseeing!) on various dates throughout 2018. Punggol Waterway, Pasir Ris, Bedok Reservoir and East Coast are where they’re happening, and with so many 5km races to get ready for, you may just end up making running your new family thing!
22 April 2018 (Punggol Waterway), 24 June 2018 (Pasir Ris), 5 August 2018 (Bedok Reservoir), 14 October 2018 (East Coast)
Minimum age: 5 years

10. We’re big on teaching our kiddos not to be wasteful, so the Income Eco Run is a great excuse not only to get in some exercise, but to remind the whole family that being eco-friendly is soooo important. Choose from the 1.2km or 800km Kids’ Dash.
When: 29 April 2018
Minimum age: 4 years for the 800m and 9 years for the 1.2km

11. A great excuse to get the family to the East Coast Park, the Singapore Kindness Run is the opportunity not only to get a bit fitter, but to remind our kids how important it is to be kind. Always! The family run stretches to 3.5km, but if you have a speedy ‘lil one, they may want to join the 800m Kids’ Dash. And if you can’t make the event, have a look at the option of sponsoring an underprivileged child to take part!
When: 13 May 2018
Minimum age: 7 years

12. If you have live wire kids that never sleep anyway, the Sundown Marathon 5km fun run might be the pick for your family. We tried this one last year and loved the festival feels and lovely views around the Bayfront area. Race collection was, however, a bit of a shambles (it took over three hours to collect our pack), so we’re REALLY hoping they’ve fixed the glitches this year…
When: 19 May 2018
Minimum age: 6 years
