Ready, Set, GO-KARTING!
If you were a child of the ‘80s and ‘90s chances are you’re not a stranger to a Go Karting track. Nothing else quite gets the adrenalin pumping like being suspended mere centimetres from the tarmac and zipping ‘round the track at lightning speed. What we don’t forget however, is the earsplitting noise, pongy petrol smell and the fact that a 30 min sesh often involved a day-long schlepp to and from the ar$e end of nowhere. Well, we’re happy to announce Singapore’s first ever electric go karting circuit is on “track” to open in Turf City next month! Read on for the deets on The Karting Arena Singapore.
Here’s 5 reasons why you’ll be tearing up the go kart track (in case you needed convincing):
1. Some Healthy Competition
For a bit of fun “pit” brother against sister, father against son, mother against the world! No drivers licence required, but juniors must measure 1.35m. So realistically, this is probably one for teenagers. Boasting an 8 metre super-wide track there’ll be plenty of opps to overtake without the risk of landing in tires that bite. If your budding Hamilton falls in the lead-foot dare devil category, you will sleep at night knowing there’s electronic speed control and remote emergency shut-down. Our older social media savvy kids will be stoked with the RaceApp that allows them to share speedy times with their mates.
2. Go Karting Here is Environmentally Friendly
Zoom zoom with a clear conscience, as the new 100% electric karts leave a near non-existent environmental footprint. The nippy little karts were designed in Italy and Japan and out-perform trad gas powered karts of old. Featuring the latest technology in safety and performance, it’s a no-brainer.
3. There’s No Noise, No Fumes, No Mess
At this state-of-the-art S$1.3 million facility, you’re guaranteed to leave in the same immaculate state in which you entered. Halleluljah to zero noise, zero fumes and zero greasy stains. ‘Nuff said.
4. It’s Centrally Located
This awesome new motor-tainment venue is at Bukit Timah, the most centrally located circuit in the city. Means you’ll have time to dominate the 545-metre long track with 11 sweeping corners, hairpin turns and the chequered flag chicane and still make it to school pick up Sunday lunch on time.
5. Its Cheap Cheap
In an industry renowned for it’s sky-high costs, its refreshing to find a locale that doesn’t require the sale of your first born to secure entry. And this is thankfully an instance where just because its affordable, it doesn’t mean it’s dodgeville. There’s also free parking and free shuttle buses to ferry you to and fro should your heart desire. Easy!
