1. Centre Stage School of the Arts
We’re totally up for taking tutu-wearing littlies to the Ballet Tots parent participation class with the folks from Centre Stage. Here, toddlers from 2.5 years will be introduced to basic dance and movement using imaginative stories and props – and mum or dad can join too! Classes have been designed to improve your bub’s confidence and develop their coordination and rhythm.

2. Evolve Arts
Situated between Pasir Panjang and Labrador Park MRT, Evolve Arts is a great option for kids in this neck of the woods (although families come far and wide to try out the classes here!). Littlies aged two to six can sign up to Ballet–Teddy Tu-Tu’s. We can vouch for this one, and our mini reporter would love to attend every day. The class is fun, full of Disney classics (Elsa fans will be pleased), and covers ballet basics. There’s an end-of-term performance too that will definitely bring a tear to parents’ eyes. Psst, it also offers acting classes as well as a super-fun playgroup from 18 months and above.

3. Dance At The Difference

When it comes to finding dance lessons for little ones where class sizes are not too daunting, and a low teacher-to-child ratio is the name of the game, we’ve found just the place… Dance At The Difference! We checked it out for ourselves and crowned this super-duper boutique dance studio as our Find of the Week! It runs fun-packed parent-and-child classes for tiny tots from eighteen months to five years and then some pretty cool drop-off picks for older kids aged five to seven years. Classes include tap dancing, ballet and hip-hop. Psst: it also runs some pretty cool classes for grownups which are not only great for getting fit but are a great way to meet new friends while having a ton of fun. Win-win!

4. Tahiti Dance
These classes at Tahiti Dance are all about empowering girls through dance and Tahitian style movement classes. The best part? There are classes available for little ones from age three and up. Grace, focus, self-confidence and coordination are the name of the game here, with Tahitian dance combining moves from ballet, jazz, Zumba and belly dancing for a fun workout.

5. Stepping Out Studios
The Melody Bear dance movement, created by Jill Bridger, has arrived in Singapore at Stepping Out Studios! Kiddos aged two to four years will love learning rhythm and moves in a class that introduces them to ballet, tap and music. Little ones will be delighted to dance alongside the super cute Melody Bear, who’s used to help ignite a love for dance in the tiniest of tots.

6. Tanglin Arts Studio

Tanglin Arts Studio offers dance classes for little ones from age two and up. Its Babyballet Tinies class is a great parent participation option covering an intro to all forms of dance for the very youngest dancers, from one to two years old. Plus, mummy gets to learn how to do a pirouette! From three years old, the Babyballet Movers drop-off class carries on the solid foundation of all things dance, and then from age four, kiddos can get to grips with ballet or jazz-focused lessons.

8. Singapore Chinese Dance Theatre

Interested in learning one of Singapore’s cultural dances? Then sign up for lessons at the Singapore Chinese Dance Theatre, which aims to promote Chinese dance to the masses. Parents and their kiddos at age three can partake in the parent-child class, with simple and fun themed activities that’ll ignite imaginations and creativity. Those between four and six can join the First Step classes, where they can learn the basics of Chinese dance. From there, your tiny dancer can move on to the class that they want to excel in. There’s even a class that combines both Chinese dance and kung-fu!

9. Dancer’s Dream Studio
Here’s another dance technique to pick up: this studio offers Latin ballroom dance classes for all ages and experience levels. Choose from cha cha, samba, Paso doble, jive, and rumba. In the Twinkle Tots group, littlies between 2.5 and 4.5 years old will pick up simplified Latin dance concepts and Latin music rhythm using musical instruments within 10 weeks per term. From there, the kiddos can progress to the Ruby & Saphire class, where they’ll learn all 5 Latin dances. That will culminate in an end of term choreography performance. How fun! Register your toddler in the preschool and toddler dance classes (for three and a half years and above), where they can improve their speech, develop motor and social skills, and build up their concentration and self-confidence. Little ones from two and a half years can enrol for Tots Ballet, where they’ll learn the basic elements of ballet and creative movement. From there, they can progress through the other programmes. 13. Kavanagh Dance

Three- and four-year-olds are welcome to Baby Gems, a one-year dance programme written by the academy’s founder. It comprises a series of exercises that are choreographed to popular nursery rhymes and Disney classics. Tots will have a ball of a time being introduced to classical ballet training. Once they’re done with the programme, they can move on to pre-ballet or pre-primary classes.

Build up your bubba’s burgeoning interest in music and movement by enrolling in this dance academy. The school places emphasis on classical ballet training as a foundation for all dance classes. Kids between two and three years old can go for the Mommy and Me ballet and jazz combo classes. It’s a great participation class that nurtures the bonds between parent and child. Slightly older kids have a wider variety of dance classes to choose from, such as acro dance, which focuses on fundamental acrobatic moves and floor work.
