We’re always on the hunt for the best kid-friendly restaurants and cafes in Singapore – bonus points for any kids eat free deals! But what if you’re in the mood for a Saturday brunch by the water, or a weekend stroll along the Singapore River followed by a cafe pitstop?
The Singapore River is the scene of many a happy afternoon scooting with the kids, and we’re thankful to have so many fab family-friendly restaurants along its banks. From relaxed brunch cafes in Robertson Quay to casual restaurants in Boat Quay and Clarke Quay, here are our favourite riverside restaurants in Singapore for dining with kids.
Best family-friendly riverside restaurants in Robertson Quay
1. Super Loco
Super Loco is definitely one of our top riverside dining spots. The outdoor tables populated by strollers and kids zipping around on scooters are already a good sign. But step inside this bright and cheery Robertson Quay restaurant on a weekend and you’ll see why it’s such a hit. We love the technicolour decor, abundance of highchairs and brilliant brunch menu.
Kids will love the scrambled egg with soldiers and the blueberry pancakes, as well as the Tacos on the kids menu. For us grown-ups? We love the hearty Super Brekkie Burrito, think pork chorizo, eggs, and corn in a tortilla. Hit up the Sunday Roast menu for a full feast with Mexican-spiced chicken or wagyu, alongside a spread of moreish sides. Bring the whole fam for this one!

2. Carnaby
If you’re a fan of a great burger, we have exciting news for you! Food-truck innovators The Goodburger took over the former Three Buns Robertson Quay outlet to open Carnaby, a modern British restaurant headed by chef Adam Penney.
Expect elevated British comfort food, including burgers, Welsh rarebit, pies and a popular Sunday roast. Its location at The Quayside makes it a convenient stop for a family meal before or after a walk along the river. Take note that Carnaby currently opens only for dinner from Tuesday to Friday, with earlier opening hours on weekends.

3. Merci Marcel
Like the other Merci Marcel outlets in Singapore, its Robertson Quay restaurant has a distinctive charm of its own. Set within a restored 19th-century warehouse, the space channels the breezy, laid-back atmosphere of the French Riviera.
The menu here was created in collaboration with renowned French chef Bruno Ménard, and our top picks include the Cévennes onion soup, wild porcini mushroom ravioli and chocolate espuma for dessert. We fell for its laid-back romantic sunset atmosphere but have also returned for a simple coffee-and-croissant breakfast – the perfect calm start to the day. 4. Toby’s Estate
This is one of our favourite spots along the river for good coffee and views. At Toby’s Estate, the sparkling river is always in sight, whether you sit indoors or out. Coffee aficionados, grab a seat by the coffee bar, if you’ve registered for the Monthly Rotation Tastings to sip on their latest single origin coffee. Leave the kids to enjoy their breakfast tacos or a French toast.
Its early opening hours also make it a handy breakfast stop before a family walk or scoot along the river. Just bear in mind that the cafe closes earlier on weekdays.

5. Common Man Coffee Roasters
A short stroll away from the river and you’ll find Common Man Coffee Roasters, which simply had to be included as one of the top kid-friendly restaurants in Clarke Quay. CMCR boasts arguably one of the BEST coffee in Singapore, which isn’t really a surprise given its owned by the same peeps as 40 Hands in Tiong Bahru.
The food is just as incredible as the caffeine – we personally love the Marmite mushrooms! If you have small kids, opt for a seat indoors away from the roadside. Our tip: leave the pram at home as it’s up a flight of stairs.

6. Boomarang
Boomarang is a bit of an institution with the family breakfast crowd in Singapore. Not only does it serve good, honest Aussie food, but the kids’ menu at this Robertson Quay restaurant is printed on a colouring sheet, too.
The restaurant’s massive frontage means that it’s nice and roomy (read: plenty of pram parking space), and you’ll easily score a table outside with a view of the river. Make sure to bring your scooters for your kids to burn up all that excess energy. And if brunch turns into lunch, hubby can catch the footy or tennis on the big screen. Hands down the best chicken Parmigiano in Singapore, and the Bondi breakfast spread fills more than one hungry tummy!

7. Carrotsticks and Cravings
If you’re looking for fresh juices, colourful salads and space for the kids to scoot while you dine, Carrotsticks and Cravings is the riverside cafe for you. Perfectly positioned on a corner block of Robertson Quay with pretty river views, we can’t resist stopping in here when we’re out on a river walk. Always fresh and tasty, this Aussie-inspired cafe can get very busy at peak times so get there early to grab a table! Breakfast starts from 7:30am. pitstop during a family walk along the Singapore River.

8. Baker & Cook at the Asian Civilisations Museum
Baker & Cook has taken over the former Privé space at the Asian Civilisations Museum, bringing its hearty breakfasts, pastries and family-friendly cafe fare to the banks of the Singapore River. It’s an especially convenient place to refuel before or after visiting the museum with the kids.
The menu includes breakfast favourites, local flavours, pizzas, sharing plates and more. We love how they even have local coffee options by Kim Guan Guan Coffee. Sit indoors to escape the heat or grab a table on the outdoor terrace for views across the river. Its early opening hours also make it a handy breakfast stop before exploring the Civic District.

9. BYD by 1826
Nestled within one of the shophouses facing the Singapore River, BYD by 1826 offers one of the most affordable lunch sets in town, starting at just $9.90! Although you won’t see their high-tech electric cars here, you’ll experience one of the world’s first BYD themed restaurants — that might excite the car-loving little ones.

10. Dumpling Darlings
Dumpling Darlings isn’t directly beside the river, but its Circular Road outlet is only a short walk from Boat Quay. The manga-inspired spot is run by the same team behind Lola’s Cafe, and they serve nothing but freshly wrapped dumplings and noodles.
The Braised Pork Noodles topped is a popular choice for its moreish mix of shredded pork ragu, bacon sofrito, and soy tare. If the kiddos just want dumplings, there’re eight variants to choose from, our go-tos are the Spicy Sichuan and The Original, including a Dessert Dumpling, served with ice cream they cannot resist.

11. Tong Xin Ru Yi Hotpot
There’s more to hotpot in Singapore than the usual big-name chains. Tong Xin Ru Yi stands out because many of its broths come brimming with ingredients, with the option to add extra meat, seafood and vegetables to your meal.
The restaurant serves its broths in traditional ring-shaped pots with a central chimney, a design used to regulate the heat from charcoal. Choose one of the comforting chicken broths for a family meal or turn up the heat with a spicy soup. Let the restaurant know if it’s your birthday, because you’ll get a bowl of longevity noodles, on the house. As with any hotpot restaurant, keep younger children safely away from the hot pots and cooking surfaces.

12. Brewerkz Riverside Point
Pizza, fish and chips, and burgers – Brewerkz has plenty of crowd-pleasing options for a casual family meal. Its children’s menu serves up familiar American favourites, while the grown-ups can sample the restaurant’s locally brewed craft beers.
This long-standing riverside restaurant at Riverside Point has indoor and outdoor seating overlooking the Singapore River. It’s also a popular place to watch live sports, so check what’s showing if you’re visiting during a major match.

13. IL Clay Supper Club
Riverside dining with award-winning neopolitan pizza? Yes please! IL Clay Supper Club is the brainchild of acclaimed Italian pizzaiolo Ciro Sorrentino, who was awarded Two Slices in Gambero Rosso International, Italy’s most respected gourmet guide. His restaurants are also found among the Top 50 in the Pizza Asia-Pacific list. Here at the Clarke Quay restaurant, you won’t go wrong with the tomato-based Margherita and kids will love the 6 Cheese & Honey or the 100 Layers Lagsana topped with crispy parmesan cheese. All pizza are freshly made and baked in the wood-fired oven, that’s why they are so light and fluffy! Its pet-friendly alfresco terrace faces the river, although families with younger children may prefer to dine earlier before the restaurant takes on a livelier supper-club atmosphere.

14. Tsui Wah Hong Kong Cafe
With items like condensed milk buns, mac and cheese, rice and noodles, Tsui Wah is a fuss-free choice when you’re dining with kids. Dishes from the kids menu are smaller in sizes, perfect for the little hands. But if you’ve got a big eater, there’s loads of rice and noodle items to choose from. Our favourite from this Clarke Quay restaurant is the BBQ Pork Scrambled Egg Rice. Think luscious pieces of BBQ pork that melts in your mouth and the silky smooth scrambled eggs.
Located at Clarke Quay Central, the restaurant also has convenient breakfast hours and stays open until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.

15. The Malayan Council
This western-styled restaurant in Clarke Quay serves up classics, some of which come with a local twist. Instead of prata, there’s Prawn Prata with sweet prawn and yuzu guacamole. And there’s also Nasi Lemak Risotto, complete with ikan bilis and sambal. For dessert, finish with a Chocolate Oovalmaltine cake or a huge shake that the kids will go nuts over!
Expect generous portions, savoury mains and plenty of eye-catching cakes for dessert. The restaurant also has private dining spaces for celebrations and larger family get-togethers.
