As a tribute to her and a modern expression of tradition, Chef Dylan fires up well-loved local favourites like cured meats, silken chicken, and comforting house-brewed soups at Choon Hoy Parlor. Just as its sister restaurant, The Masses (which serves a delicious brunch where kids eat free), you’ll enjoy good food without breaking the bank. The three-course Local-Style Set lunch, which includes rice, two starters, and one main, will set you back just $18.90++.
If you have company, the Signature Set Lunch ($24.90++ per person, minimum two to dine) comes with one more starter and a peppery Pig Stomach Collagen Soup. You’ll get to choose between plain rice or lard rice – take it from us, always go with the lard! If you’re in the mood for a tipple, they also have a cocktail program which features their extensive collection of Baijiu (Chinese white spirit).

That’s why we’re really happy they have a weekday lunch set in Singapore which also includes a Mediterranean-inspired lunch set. At only $38++ per person, you’ll get to choose between creamy burrata or pumpkin soup for appetisers, with mains like pasta, grilled seabass, and Agus beef (supplement $12), before rounding off with the Hazelnut mousse dessert.
There’s also the heartier Gourmet Set Lunch ($78++) that comes with a Jumbo Crab Salad. If you are looking for plant-based options, we highly recommend the Crispy Viola Eggplant Cutlet ($28++) from the a la carte menu. It’s not a lunch set but it’ll blow your mind!

There’s also a European Lunch Set (from $68++) that even has his signature Kombu Angel Hair Pasta. Whether you call it Japanese or European, it’s going to have delightful traces of each cuisine in either. BYD, the Chinese EV brand is one of the forerunners of brands that venture into lifestyle F&B in Singapore. Their pet-friendly restaurant at Zhongshan Park may be our furkid’s favourite, but their lush Boat Quay outlet is the one we go to for river views. And the best thing? This lunch set in Singapore is only $9.90++, perhaps the cheapest lunch set around the area. There’s one caveat though; you’ll need to sign up for their free membership.
Every month, they feature three different dishes in their set lunch. It can include anything from rice bowls to pasta and noodles, together a starter (salad or soup), and a dessert. They are also well-loved for their $7 craft beers but BYO water bottle if you just want water, because it’s $7/1 litre bottle here.

It first opened in 2023 along Tanjong Pagar, and in these two years, Restaurant Fiz has already won over the hearts and tastebuds of many serious foodies in Singapore. Chef-Owner Hafizzul Hashim puts the spotlight on contemporary Southeast Asian cuisine, turning the region’s rich heritage into bold flavours on fine plates. Its second lunch menu draws inspiration from Angkor’s Khmer and Java’s Majapahit Empire in the 15th century with dishes like Ikan Pekasam (Malay fermented fish) and Oxtail Asam Pedas (A spicy and sour oxtail stew). 10. Sushi Sato

Nothing says splurge like an exquisite omakase meal, especially when its hidden within the lush enclaves of Dempsey Hills. Chef Yuji Sato is a chef with green thumbs and has designed a pretty little zen garden by the entrance of the restaurant, complete with a matching water feature. It really does feel like you’ve stepped into Japan and that sets the tone before you step into the intimate nine-seater restaurant. All the omakase features fresh sashimi and a range of nigiri built with Yamagata rice mixed with a secret blend of vinegars that enhances the oiliness of the fish. In true omakase style, most of the items are seasonal here but have no fear because the chefs will tell you what you are eating. And if you need, they have an iPad with the names of the dishes in English too. Chef speaks some English and is more than happy to explain everything to you, even how he grows a wasabi plant in the fridge!
