We’re calling it: theme parks are the best – they bring hours of exhilaration and are definitely one of our favourite things to do outdoors with the kiddos. But let’s be honest, adults love them too! Especially when we get to have fun with our favourite characters or scream our hearts out at the thrilling rides. Yes, there may be long queues for the popular rides and things may cost a little more than usual, but for a whole day of family fun, and feeling like a kid again, we think it’s worth it! 1. Universal Studios Singapore
We’re pretty lucky to have a theme park in our own backyard, don’t you think? You certainly don’t have to go too far for a thrilling time – simply pop over to Sentosa for all the action! The park is also the first Universal Studios theme park in Southeast Asia and features fun attractions for the whole family. We personally love the motion-platform Transformers: The Ride 3D, which was first opened in Singapore, ahead of the other Universal Studios parks in the world. And the minions are there too! If once is not enough make sure to get their season pass

2. Adventure Cove Waterpark
We love summer – being able to splash around in a pool outside for most days of the year is a privilege we don’t take for granted. And there’s nothing better than a day at the water park, we reckon! Adventure Cove Waterpark has thrilling water slides, immersive experiences and kid-friendly attractions like a big bucket treehouse and a shallow wading pool for the tots.

3. Wild Wild Wet @ Downtown East
Singapore’s local wet amusement park, Wild Wild Wet @ Downtown East, is extremely popular with kids and families alike. If you haven’t paid it a visit yet, you’re seriously missing out. There are tons of exhilarating, adrenaline-pumping rides for older kids and a pint-sized kids’ zone for the young ‘uns to enjoy. Several of the rides are pretty steep, so it’s definitely not for the faint-hearted!

4. Legoland Malaysia
If the kiddos love Lego as much as we do, then you’ll want to bring them to Legoland Malaysia! It’s the first Legoland theme park in Asia and features plenty of Lego-centric attractions that ever Lego fan will love, from Star Wars to Ninjago and more. The best part? It also has a water theme park and it’s easily accessible from Singapore – just a mere car ride away. Hurrah! Psst, if you want to venture somewhere further, there’s also a Legoland in Japan that’s worth visiting, too.

5. Sunway Lagoon
With more than 90 attractions, Sunway Lagoon isn’t your average amusement park. In fact, Malaysia’s oldest theme park has different attractions including a wildlife park, scream park and even Nickelodeon’s Lost Lagoon – Asia’s first Nickelodeon-themed attraction. We can’t wait to go, especially when it’s only 15 minutes away from the city of Kuala Lumpur!

Escape into nine immersive worlds inspired by blockbuster movies at Genting SkyWorlds. Sitting high in the cool mountains of Genting Highlands, this relatively new outdoor theme park features rides and attractions based on Ice Age, Epic, Independence Day, Night at the Museum and more. Families with younger children will love the gentler rides, while older kids and teens can head straight for the bigger thrills. Pair your visit with the Genting cable car, indoor shopping mall and nearby hotels for an easy overnight family getaway.

Austin Heights Water and Adventure Park (Closed)
Austin Heights Water and Adventure Park in Johor Bahru features not one, not two, but six areas of attractions the whole family can enjoy. You can expect thrilling water rides, an adventure rope course, an ice-skating rink, a go-kart track and a trampoline park. The kids certainly won’t be bored at this amusement park!

7. Hong Kong Disneyland
As big fans of Disney, we couldn’t leave this theme park out of our list! Say hi to Mickey and friends in the happiest place on Earth at Hong Kong Disneyland. Enter the magical kingdom to meet your favourite Disney characters and enjoy the fun family-friendly attractions in the park. It’s no surprise, of course, that the park is usually busy, so pick a wise time to go! Our tip? If you’re staying in the city, take the Disney-themed subway from your hotel to the park. And, be sure to download the Hong Kong Disneyland app for up-to-date wait times for your favourite rides.

If the kiddies love animals and thrilling rollercoaster rides, you’ll want to consider adding Ocean Park in Hong Kong to your list of amusement parks to visit. It’s certainly on our list! 9. Tokyo Disney Resort
The first Disney theme park outside the United States, Tokyo Disney Resort is heaven for all Disney fans who want to enjoy their beloved Disney attractions without having to fly all the way to Anaheim or Orlando. The best part? It comprises two parts – Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea (our favourite out of the two). Our top tip? 10. Universal Studios Japan
One of six Universal Studios worldwide, Universal Studios Japan in Osaka might just be our favourite of all time. Not only does it include attractions at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Jurassic Park and Minion Park, but it also has other rides from classic movies like Terminator, Jaws and Spider-Man that the adults and older kids will enjoy. Keep your eyes peeled for seasonal park exclusives such as the One Piece Premier Show, alongside themed dining experiences and rides.
Best for: Thrill seekers, Nintendo fans, Harry Potter lovers and older children.

11. Legoland Japan Resort
Not to be confused with Legoland Discovery Centres (in Tokyo and Osaka), Legoland Japan in Nagoya is a full-fledged theme park boasting over 40 rides, attractions, and live shows. It’s an outdoor attraction with seven different zones to have fun with all things Lego. If you’ve been to the one in Malaysia, you’ll find familiar worlds like Lego City, Knight’s Kingdom, and Lego Ninjago World but there are park specific rides in Japan, such as the Flying Ninjago and Splash Battle in Pirate Shores world. Right beside Legoland is Sealife Nagoya, perfect for escaping from the heat or rain.
Best for: Families with children aged 3–10, Lego fans and first-time visitors to Nagoya.

12. PokéPark KANTO
No, this is not another Pokémon themed playground but an actual theme park with rides and immersive experiences. Pokémon fans have something to look forward to in this real-life Pokémon world. Put on your trainer’s hat and go “catch em’, all 600+Pokémon hidden in their natural habitat!” The 26,000 square metres themed park will be housed within Yomiuri Land, an amusement park in Tokyo’s lush Tama Hills area. Traverse the Pokémon Forest to get up close with Pokémon (Pokémon Snap, maybe?) and head to the Sedge Town with the Pokémon Centre, Sedge Gym, Poké Mart, a Pokémon parade, and more. Want to meet fellow trainers? Gather at Sedge Town’s meeting spot, the Primarina Fountain.
Best for: Pokémon fans, families with school-age children and anime lovers.

13. JUNGLIA Okinawa
Built on an old golf course, JUNGLIA is Japan’s latest nature-based amusement park. Spanning 60 hectares, it is one of the largest park in Japan! Expect a dinosaur safari, soaring hot-air balloons, buggy adventures, giant swings and spectacular forest views from the world’s largest infinity public bath. When nightfalls, the amusement park turns into a party site with the JUNGLIA Night Fes and fireworks.
Best for: Nature lovers, adventure seekers and families exploring Okinawa.

14. Suzuka Circuit
Can’t get enough of the F1 Grand Prix in Singapore? Suzuka Circuit is a circuit and theme park all in one. Plan your trips to coincide with one of the many motorsports event such as the Formula 1 Japanese Grand Prix 2026 or the Suzuka 8 Hours to immerse in the excitement of the races. Head to the vehicle themed amusement park for your very own challenge on the go-kart or experience the speed of racing on the motorcycle roller coaster. There’s a summer exclusive water park to cool off and a race themed hotel turn in for the night. But we think the camping experience with bonfire and BBQ will be something to remember as the years go by.
Best for: Formula One fans, aspiring racers and families looking for something different from traditional theme parks.

15. Everland
Located outside Seoul, Everland is South Korea’s largest theme park and a full-day adventure for families. The sprawling park combines thrilling rides, seasonal gardens, colourful parades and animal encounters across several themed zones. Older kids and adults can test their nerves on the park’s bigger attractions, while younger children can enjoy gentler rides, character experiences and family-friendly shows.
The park also has a safari experience where families can spot animals such as bears and lions. As the official English website can be tricky to navigate, it may be easier to compare tickets and transport packages through trusted booking platforms before your visit.
Best for: Full-day family adventures, animal lovers, thrill seekers and seasonal festivals.

16. Lotte World
Don’t want to venture too far out of the city? Add Lotte World to your Seoul itinerary. Conveniently located in Jamsil, this indoor and outdoor amusement park is a handy option when the kids need a break from sightseeing or shopping.
The indoor Lotte World Adventure is especially useful during rainy, cold or extremely hot weather, while the outdoor Magic Island has larger thrill rides set around a fairytale-style castle. Families can also catch parades and performances or visit nearby attractions such as the aquarium, ice rink and Seoul Sky observation deck.
Best for: Rainy-day outings, families staying in Seoul, mixed-age groups and K-drama fans.

17. Seoul Land
Many of South Korea’s biggest theme parks are located far from the city centre, but Seoul Land is around a 30-minute train ride from Gangnam. It was South Korea’s first theme park and is located within the Seoul Grand Park area, close to other family attractions such as Seoul Grand Park Zoo and the Gwacheon National Science Museum.
The park has more than 40 rides and attractions spread across five themed areas, along with performances, seasonal festivals and illuminated evening displays. There are plenty of rides for younger children, and the queues can be shorter than at South Korea’s larger theme parks. It’s also a HoneyKids parent-tested favourite: my then-five-year-old talked about our visit long after the holiday ended!
Best for: Younger children, shorter queues, affordable family outings and combining several attractions in one area.

18. E-World, Daegu
This is one for thrill seekers. Think giant spinning rides, a long roller coaster inspired by a camel’s back and a huge pirate ship that swings riders high into the air. These attractions sit within a European-style park filled with fountains, gardens and colourful lights, next to Daegu’s landmark 83 Tower.
E-World changes with the seasons, with spring blossoms, summer events, autumn foliage and winter illuminations offering families a different experience throughout the year. Stay until evening to see the park and tower lit up against the Daegu skyline.
Best for: Thrill seekers, seasonal illuminations, older children and families visiting Daegu.

19. Wolmi Theme Park, Incheon
Sometimes associated with the nearby My Land amusement park, Wolmido’s seaside entertainment area is known for its lively carnival atmosphere and individually priced rides. Fans of Korean variety shows may recognise the famous Disco Pang Pang ride, where a quick-witted DJ tries to bounce riders from their seats as music plays.
The area is also a popular filming location and has appeared in numerous Korean television programmes. Rides cater to different age groups, so grown-ups and teens can brave the larger Viking ship while younger children try pint-sized versions of the attractions. Admission to the amusement area is generally free, making it easy to stroll around, enjoy the waterfront and pay only for the rides you want to try.

20. Suoi Tien Theme Park
Hold on to your hats, because this is unlike any other theme park in Asia. Located on the outskirts of Ho Chi Minh City, Suoi Tien Theme Park combines Vietnamese folklore, Buddhist-inspired architecture and family amusement rides into one colourful attraction. Besides roller coasters and family rides, there’s also a water park, aquarium, cultural performances and even crocodile feeding sessions. It’s an affordable day out that’s especially fun if you’re looking for something completely different from the usual movie-themed parks.

21. Columbia Pictures Aquaverse
This used to be the world’s only Cartoon Network-themed water park in Chon Buri, Thailand. We’ll admit it’s a bit of a stretch getting there, as its located on the outskirts of South Pattaya and is two hours away from Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport. But, it’s a good opportunity to explore another part of the country besides its capital. Plus, who could resist a water theme park with all your favourite movie characters? Definitely one for the older kids to enjoy.
Best for: Water park lovers, teens and families combining Pattaya with Bangkok.

22. Shanghai Disney Resort
This may be the third Disney in Asia but the Disney magic is till going strong even in Shanghai. Go from the Adventure Isle to Toy Story Land. Get lost in Fantasyland when you go on an adventure with Alice through the Wonderland Maze. Tomorrowland sends you on a mission with Buzz Lightyear and an exploration into the TRON Realm, a thrilling digital space presented by Chevrolet.
Best for: Disney fans, first-time visitors to China and families with children of all ages.

The third Universal Studios in Asia finds its home in the capital of China, Beijing. And what better place than here to debut the world’s first Kung Fu Panda Land of Awesomeness! There’s also a larger Transformer-themed land, with the main ride Battle of the AllSpark.

24. Chimelong Paradise
One of China’s largest amusement parks, Chimelong Paradise packs more than 70 rides into one enormous resort, including a 10 loop roller coaster! But this is not all, there is a water park, a zoo, a bird park, and even a circus within the area. So, the best way to enjoy it all is to stay in one of the three hotels at the resort. Families with little kids will love the vibrant panda-themed hotel

A place to make all your C-Drama dreams come true. Rent a Hanfu (Chinese costume) and spend the day recreating life in the Song Dynasty. Besides the architecture, the immersive theme park offers live martial arts shows, traditional games, and other interactive experiences such as being part of a performance or a martial arts training session. Since its opening in 2024, Song Dynasty Martial Arts City has quickly gained popularity, thanks to its affordable pricing and the buzz from fun-filled live streams.
