Chinese New Year craft for the kids: DIY fortune cookies, lanterns and dragons Inquiry

Chinese New Year craft for the kids: DIY fortune cookies, lanterns and dragons

Once you’ve exhausted all the Chinese New Year events for kiddos around Singapore, why not break out the craft kit and get on with your CNY prep by making your own auspiciously festive decor? We turned loo rolls into reindeers at Xmas, and now we’re creating dragons out of paper plates and pineapples out of washi tape with these fun Chinese New Year DIY decorations: perfect for keeping the little ones busy playing indoors on a rainy day.

1. There’s nothing scary about these colourful cute Chinese dragon puppets in this Kix Cereal tutorial.

2. HoneyKids’ craft heaven right here with this pineapple washi tape print by Delinate Your Dwelling.

3. Light up your day and your CNY decor with these easy peasy pretty Chinese lantern instructions from The True Sea.

4. Kids will love making these little parcels of luck: homemade fortune cookies at Crafts by Amanda.

Tracy is a Brit mum to The Grumpy Teenager, The Pink Princess and The Small Menace. She uses her love of writing as a well-earned break from watching endless episodes of Top Gear with The Teen, drawing unicorns (badly) with The Princess and pretending to be Optimus Prime with The Menace. She has been loving and living in Singapore for eight years and is rather fond of the sunshine, popiah, Daiso and Himalayan tea lattes.
