Wondering where to see Christmas lights in Singapore? Despite being a year-round sunshine city, the festive season always sees the Little Red Dot transforming into a Christmas wonderland. We’re talking gorgeous light displays accompanied by elaborately decorated Xmas trees at every shopping precinct. So, in between looking for Christmas decorations, gift shopping and hanging out with Santa, you’ll want to take some time to check out these twinkling places in Singapore where holiday lights will really ignite your yuletide spirit.
Where to see Christmas lights in Singapore: 2021
1. Christmas Wonderland at Gardens by The Bay
One of our all-time fave Christmas lights displays (pictured top) has made its triumphant return this year! And just like previous years, this year’s event is another behemoth celebration at Gardens by the Bay. Plenty of things to do here: marvel at the spectacular Christmas lights and the Garden Rhapsody Light and Sound Show, have a go and do your best at the carnival games, do some shopping at the Christmas market… There are four one-hour sessions (between 6.30 and 10.30pm) per day, and tickets must be purchased prior to your visit. 2. Christmas on a Great Street along Orchard Road
Hit up the whole of Orchard Road and prepare to be dazzled by sparkling festive lights and colourful set-ups at every turn. This awesome light display starts at Tanglin Mall and ends at Plaza Singapura – that’s a whopping 3.11 km! Besides the usual lights, massive arches, and festive decorations, what we’re looking forward to the most is the outdoor AR projection screening on the sidewall of Mandarin Orchard Singapore. Each projection runs for 10 minutes daily, between 8 and 10pm. If you don’t want to brave the crowds, enjoy a virtual tour down Orchard Road instead.

3. Chanel Holiday Cosmos-sphere outside ION Orchard
When you’re done checking out all the lights on Orchard, walk over to the outdoor plaza at ION Orchard for this massive installation. Standing 18 metres tall, the “loftiest Chanel installation in the world” celebrates the 100th anniversary of the brand’s iconic No 5 L’Eau perfume. Step inside and experience an intergalactic light show (between 8 and 10pm) while the familiar scent fills the air.

4. A Universal Christmas at USS
Resorts World Sentosa is once again pulling out all the stops for its Christmas extravaganza. A ticket during the festive season doesn’t just mean exhilarating rollercoaster rides (check out our guide to a day at Universal Studios) – it also means loads of glittering lights, tinsel, holly, and Xmas-themed character meet and greets! We hear that Sesame Street and the Trolls will be around too! Kiddos can also get on the train and be amazed by the various Christmas trees inspired by movie franchises like Jurassic World, Minions, and Shrek.

5. Deck the malls with Molly
Immerse yourself in an enchanting AR experience for a Jolly Molly Christmas! Spot and scan the QR codes near the colourful Molly displays to unlock the various magical filters. You can find Molly at 15 participating Capitaland malls across the island.

6. Meet the world at Jewel Changi Airport
Jewel Changi Airport is a fun-filled family day out at the best of times, and that’s before you add the Christmas activities to the mix. With everything from a sparkly 16-metre-tall Christmas tree to magical snowfall in Shiseido Forest Valley, and not to mention endless Christmas lights, it really is the place to be this festive season.

7. Spend Christmas with prehistoric creatures
If you’re done at Jewel and are after more festive fun, how about checking out the action over at Changi Festive Village? If you’ve got Dino fans at home, they’re sure to be impressed. First up, check out Dino Blitz and Dino Dazzle, which offers plenty of dinosaur spotting opps all decked out in Christmas lights. There’s also the super-fun Dino Karts over at T4 to take a turn on. Last but not least, hotfoot it over to Dino Bounce – a massive dino-themed bounce house! Good luck getting the kids to leave!

8. Have an enchanted Yuletide at Capitol Singapore and CHIJMES
There are so many Christmassy treats in store over at Capitol Singapore and Chijmes this December. Transformed into the Land of Snowflakes, you’ll be treated to snowfall each night, as well as a singing Christmas tree! Let’s not forget the twinkling Christmas lights either, which are made extra special by the whimsical wonderland, projected onto the iconic Chijmes Hall come nightfall. Chijmes’ mini lawn is also transforming into a skating rink, where you can have a spin under the night sky. The kids are going to be super impressed by this one!

9. Peep into Santa’s workshop at Vivocity
We love the festive decor and lights at Vivocity this year. Head up to the Sky Park, where you can discover the secrets behind Santa’s workshop and see his friendly little helpers hard at work in the ultra-secret factory under the 15m-tall Christmas tree. Be there after 7pm when the tree’s Christmas lights are switched on for even more wow factor. After that, hop down to the mall’s atrium and see the gifts being prepared for deliveries on the night of Xmas eve.

10. See the world’s tallest [email protected] displays
Drop by Raffles City Shopping Centre and be wowed by the 5.6m tall (the tallest in the world, mind you!) [email protected] sculpture being showcased at the mall’s External Quartzsite. As part of the [email protected] Christmas spectacle, see if you can spot other [email protected] displays decked out in Christmas motifs around the mall.

11. Get whimsical at Wisma Atria
This year, Wisma Atria is collaborating with students from ITE College Central to bring the classic fantasy tale, Alice in Wonderland, to life at its outdoor atrium. Be amazed by the black and white checkered walkway, floating tea sets, and Christmas trees dressed up as the Queen of Hearts. Bring your cameras because you’ll want to capture loads of photos and videos!

12. Marvel at lighted up trees in the Botanic Gardens
Here’s another option to enjoy pretty Christmas lights. Plus, it’s away from the crowds! Trees of the World is a community-led event that sees 200 trees being decorated by donors, community groups, and members of the public. The light-up takes place daily, from 7pm to midnight. 13. Enjoy a festive celebration at Rainforest Lumina
Fancy checking out some snowfall at the heart of Singapore Zoo? In this final (and very special) season of Rainforest Lumina, the rainforest will be illuminated with Christmas magic. There will also be tons of holiday craft activities for the whole fam to enjoy together. Things like decorating Christmas ornaments and embarking on the Rainforest Lumina’s adventure quest will surely excite the young ones.

14. See glowing Christmas trees along Marina Bay Waterfront Promenade
Get into the holiday spirit by taking a walk along Marina Bay Waterfront Promenade, where you can spot Christmas trees adorned with lights from now till 26 December. These decorations are part of ChariTrees 2021, a fund-raising initiative that aims to benefit three charities. On top of that, see if you can spot a galaxy of stars projection at Red Dot Design Museum and lighted up bird structures near The Shoppes.
15. Marina Central District
Sure, these aren’t Christmas lights, but the buildings in the Marina Central District will be putting on a show of their own. On till 15 December, key buildings in the district will be lit up in teal. And yes, it sure is pretty!
