Inspired by local flavours, the dim sum stalwart adds Laksa broth to rice flour rolls and wraps otah in the siew mai (we highly recommend trying both). They even managed to include kaya toast and coffee in this national day promotion. The Kaya Bolo Bun comes complete with a slice of butter (just like the real thing) and from the Kopi Gao Bao, created in collaboration with Coffee Hock, flows a silky rich coffee paste. Chilli crab? Find it in the Crusty Chilli Crab Bao. These time-limited creations are priced at $6 each. 2. Guzman Y Gomez

In the spirit of SG60, our favourite clean fast food brand Guzman Y Gomez is serving up a flavourful new filling — Laksa Barramundi. Marinated in a homemade laksa sauce, the Laksa Barramundi is aromatic with the flavours of spices and coconut milk from The Coconut Club. Go for the mildly spiced one so the littles one can have their first taste of laksa. 3. Bailey and Patch

One of favourite pet-friendly cafe, Bailey and Patch works with local frozen packaged food brands, Farmpride, for its SG60 exclusive snacks. On the menu are seven moreish snacks like Crunchy Chicken Popcorn, Chicken Nugget Bites, Crunchy Fish Bites, and more, all priced at $6 each. 4. Momolato Gelato

Homegrown gelato brand Momolato is expanding its range with a whole new series of Singapore-inspired popsicles. Think cultural icons like the Merlion and Vanda Miss Joaquim, and landmarks such as Marina Bay Sands and Kampong Gelam, reimagined in gelato form. Each popsicle comes in a variety of flavours including the limited edition Hokkaido Cream Flavour in the Merlion design.

5. BreadTalk

What better way to celebrate the nation’s 60th birthday than with our national fruit? Yes, we’re talking about durians! The star of the show is the XO Durian Bun ($2.30), filled with velvety smooth durian custard that’s rich enough to satisfy durian lovers, yet light enough to skip the lingering durian breath. You’ll know which bun it is because of the cute little ‘durian’ spikes on it! The XO Durian Layer Brulee Tart ($3.30), with its buttery folds and XO durian paste makes for a great afternoon snack. They’re also bringing back the crowd favourite Golden Lava Floss bun ($2.50) — think floss bun but with cereal and a salted egg custard core.

Gourmet burgers at affordable prices? Muslim-owned burger joint, Burgs, returns to Singapore’s dining scene with a two-storey shophouse in Kampong Glam. It may be called the Soup Restaurant but what we love best is their silky Samsui Ginger Chicken — slathered with their housemade ginger for extra oomph! Celebrating its last National Day before relocating to its new home at the National Gallery Singapore, Rempapa dishes out a curation of Peranakan classics in its Final Peranakan Menu. Relish in dishes like Nasi Ulam ($12, a herbed rice dish), Ayam Buah Keluak ($28), Hati Babi Bungkus ($14), Sayur Kachang Rempah Titek ($18), and more. Eat all you can but save space for Chef Damian’s kueh kueh, which he crafts with lots of love and care.

One of our faves, Din Tai Fung, is treating us with the return of crowd-favourite Steamed Chilli Crab and Pork Xiao Long Bao just in time for National Day. Oh, and it gets better; each one is a whopping 40% larger than a regular Xiao Long Bao. For the first time, there’s also the Steamed Kaya Bun filled with silky Nonya kaya topped with toasted coconut. Yum!
