On top of offering high-quality, high-performance sex toys, Hedonist also works towards destigmatising sex and pleasure. This is done through organising social events, podcast interviews, and educational workshops with leading professionals and industry experts.
One such social event is its private party. Revellers get to spend a couple of hours with Hedonist’s pleasure consultant and pick up tips and tricks to spice up their bedroom antics. I had the, ahem, pleasure of attending a private party with a few colleagues, and here’s what went down…
What takes place during the Hedonist private party
Our private party was held at Hedonist’s intimate space, within walking distance of Tanjong Pagar MRT station. Co-founder Jacqueline, our “pleasure consultant”, warmly welcomed us. We took off our shoes and were led into the intimate room. I was immediately awestruck by the cosiness of the space.
We took our places on the velvety soft chaise lounges as Jacqueline introduced herself and shared more about Hedonist. That’s when our motley crew noticed the pleasure toys surrounding us. Sex toys were strewn on the shelves behind us, the round table in front of us, and even the lounges! After Jacqueline was done, we dove straight into foreplay…
Let me break the ice
Three activities take place during Hedonist’s private party. The first part is an icebreaker session, where participants can get to know each other intimately through an adult-focused game. Depending on who you’re attending the party with, it can be a fun-filled, eye-opening session, or you’ll want to scrub your brain out afterwards.
I never thought I’d bare it all to my colleagues, but that happened. Full disclosure – I was nervous before the session started. As the icebreaker progressed, I grew more comfortable to the point that I forgot I was attending the party with my colleagues!
The pleasure principles
After the rousing icebreaker, our Hedonist private party segued into Pleasure 101, where two topics (that we chose) were explained in-depth. Our team went with Unlocking Different Types of Orgasms: Pleasure Anatomy 101 and Intro to Kinks: BDSM 101.
For the first topic, Jacqueline got us to identify the male and female reproductive systems before grading our answers and delving deeper into the subject. Psst, did you know the clitoris has more than 8,000 nerve endings? That’s double the number of nerve endings a penis has! Gentlemen (and ladies), now you roughly know one of the pleasure principles…
Keen to try out BDSM? Or perhaps you’re just a curious cat wanting to know more outside your sexual comfort zone. Well, Intro to Kinks is the perfect topic for you to get your toes wet. Jacqueline walked us through the definition of BDSM, the various kinks one can get into (it spans from A to Z!), and the safety measures one should implement before getting kinky.
Sensual seduction
They say the best is saved for last. In the case of Hedonist’s private party, it’s a practical session with the toys mentioned earlier (and nope, it’s not what you think!). Jacqueline talked about each sex toy that we’ve got our hands (and eyes) on and shared anecdotes of clients who are happy with their purchases.
Unfortunately, we didn’t get to try out the toys and props on the shelves. As only 50 minutes are allocated for the final portion of this party, some things might be given a miss. But that’s still enough time to gain as much knowledge from your pleasure consultant as possible.
What’s our verdict?
When I told my team that I was attending this private party, I was met with amusement – mainly because I referred to it as a “sex party”. It’s obviously not that sort of sex party, but I gained plenty of pleasure points from Jacqueline.
If you draw a hard line between your personal and professional lives, don’t go for this with your colleagues. I was lucky to go with candid and open-minded people, so it didn’t feel awkward or forced. This is a fun party to go to with your girlfriends or as a double date option. Hey, don’t knock it till you try it! Who knows – you might even put what you’ve learned to good use afterwards, wink wink.
Hedonist also conducts private parties in your intimate space, which can be your home or a hotel room. However, note that there’s an additional surcharge if you choose this option. Want to add more spice to the party? You can have catered food, decorations, and even a stripper service. It ain’t no party like a Hedonist (private) party!
As for me, what I’ve gathered out of this is that I don’t have enough pleasure toys. So if you’ll excuse me, I will make my purchases now…
