It's your baby's first Christmas! Keepsakes are the best little reminders to preserve this special period in your life. From elf outfits to personalised baubles and other mementos, here are some ideas.
Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year (cue song) for many, but even more so when it’s your baby’s first Christmas. There’s something overwhelmingly cute about a bubba dressed as an elf, a personalised bauble on the Christmas tree and a sleigh-load of knick-knacks documenting your tiny tot‘s very first festive season! So here’s where to get a mountain of memorabilia in honour of your small human’s first visit from Santa…
Gifts and keepsakes for your baby’s first Christmas
1. Personalised trinkets and ornaments
Your baby’s first Christmas is a HUGE occasion! So how about hitting up something special on your Christmas shopping spree to mark this memory? Something that you can keep for years to come and pull out of a box and wonder how quickly that time has passed by (and to question who this grouchy teen is that you now have to force Christmas upon).
First off, how about sitting back on the couch with your tiny person to admire a lovely (if a little extravagant) baby’s first Christmas bauble by lovedbyjacob on Etsy? We simply love this keepsake ornament too, featuring your bub’s handprint or footprint! Super adorable!
You’re also going to need a personalised special sack for Santa to pop all of baby’s first presents into (it took so long to pick a baby name, so put it on everything, we say). We like the ones by Brightstar Kids.
Stockings? We love the cuties by Pretty Little Customs or the simple-but-super-sweet stockings by So Sew Precious Gifts.
2. Dressing bub up as Santa or an elf is practically obligatory
Make the most of baby’s first Christmas and use it as an excuse to break out ridiculously cute outfits. It’s all good fodder for later down the line when you’re pulling out the bribery big guns on your defiant teenager (trust us). We love this unisex Elf pyjama set from Happidoo and this Santa outfit by Mothercare so much we’re tempted to get one made in our size…
Since we are at it, whoever said bubba can be spared from precious dress-up opps come nap time! Don your baby in cute festive-themed pyjamas for a cosy, white and magical slumber.
3. You don’t want to spoil that special outfit: get a cute bib
A Christmas-themed bib of course! We’re loving these cute personalised Christmas bibs from Etsy which are perfect for little dribblers! But it’s likely to get stained pretty quickly during one meal. What you need is a bib that is waterproof and stain-resistant at the same time. Kiddy Palace is the answer to your prayers and is known to dish out some pretty snazzy bibs that save you the after-mealing cleaning effort in a flash!
4. A festive nursery
Deck the halls and bub’s nursery too, this Christmas! Sprinkle over festive magic with snowflake fairy lights on the walls, hang some bells on the door and set up a baby-friendly Christmas tree. How about replenishing your bub’s toy basket with Christmas-themed Jellycat toys from Le Petit Society to add to the decks? We also love this customisable wall name tag by Crafting Studio to add that finishing touch to the nest.
P.S – make sure the decks are set up at a safe distance away from bubba.
4. Photo frames and photo books to save those Christmas memories
There will be around a gazillion pics taken during baby’s first Christmas, so pop your fave into a photo frame! This one from Island Living is simple and super cute! It’s not going to hurt to jot down all the fun you had on the big day in a beautiful first memories book. The lovely book by Kikki-K gets our vote. And don’t forget a personalised wooden box to store them in!
No one ever said that babies were cheap… Ho ho ho!
