Classical music, water play, fun runs and perfecting the art of escape are on our kids' minds this week!
Did you all have a great weekend? We certainly did! Our mini-reporters, as ever, have been searching high and low (with a little help from us) for the cool and affordable activities happening around Singapore, and have come up with five activities to liven up your week…
1. Classical music and a pretty cool competition had the kids mesmerised at the Singapore International Violin Competition, where the world’s rising violin stars donned their bows and wowed us with their musical skills. It’s not too late to inspire your own little music maestros with a violin masterclass, and exhibition on rare instruments and, of course, the brilliant competition itself. The final is on Saturday!
2. What happens when you throw a bunch of teens into a room and make them earn their way out by actually communicating (without any gadgets)? We sent our teen off to an escape room to find out, and he came back pretty proud of himself. And almost smiling. Almost.
3. Despite the odd thunderstorm hanging around this weekend, we didn’t let that stop us from cooling off at a free water playground. We love the Palawan Pirate Ship at Sentosa (formerly Port of Lost Wonder), but you’ll find plenty of places for a splash in your ‘hood in our handy guide.
4. We started off the New Year pretty determined to get fit, and now we’ve rolled those good intentions out to the whole family. Yes, that was us you may have spotted at the weekend rubbing shoulders with Pikachu on a family run! With plenty more kids’ dashes and fun runs scheduled throughout 2018, we may just have a new hobby.
5. We ran. We swam. The teenager used his brain. And then we needed coffee. Luckily we knew exactly where to go to get lovely hit of caffeine AND a fabulously frothy babyccino for the small people. Craftsmen Speciality Coffee: our hero.
