School’s out for summer! And despite all evidence to the contrary – it’s not out FOREVER. As parents to active kids in Singapore, those long languid months when the temperature gauge reaches it’s peak feel eternal. And as working parents, we more than heavily rely on kids’ summer camps to keep our kids out of our hair busy.
This summer is shaping up to be a cracker with heaps of fabulous events slated for the season. What’s not to love about swimming, water play, art exhibitions, island escapes and more? Zip through our handy guide to summer and we’ll have your entire holiday period planned before the ice cream starts dripping down your hand.
Here’s our ode to summer…
First up, we don’t mean to harp on the issue, but book your little adventurers in to a summer camp. Stat. From soccer to drama, to hiking and coding for kids there’s something to excite every personality.
Or if you’re saving those pennies for a rainy day, the affordable kids activities at your local community club are just the ticket.
No summer vacay is complete without spending a LARGE amount of time in the State of Fun. Sentosa is the place to be for Mega Fun this June – think giant inflatables, bubbleology, Merlion magic lights and sunset movies. Bliss.
We pretty spoilt in Singapore when it comes to kid-centric art and science venues. Here’s our hit list of the best museums and exhibitions of 2017 to work your way through one by one…
Don’t miss the mind-blowing art exhibition to end all art exhibitions – the Children’s Biennale at National Gallery Singapore. Hours, days, weeks of fun.
Sure we’re always off on short kid-friendly getaways from Singapore, but the two-month holiday means you can unleash your inner-voyager with a epic family vacation.
You’ll be needing our tips for surviving long-haul flights with kids then. Don’t panic – just start prepping now! And seriously consider taking your helper with you on holidays. Check out our guide to visa requirements for FDW to see which countries she’ll easily accompany you and your clan.
We’re not the only ones with travel fever, grandparents want to get in on the action with a visit to Singapore. Here’s a bespoke list of activities tailored to the older generation.
Become the most popular family in the ‘hood by installing a pool in your backyard and throwing a massive pool party! But, let’s face it, a private pool at home isn’t in most of our budgets, so we’ll be heading to one of the awesome cheap public swimming pools in Singapore instead.
Entertaining the kids while off school for a couple of months can become expensive (as can that pool you just put in). We have the perfect antidote – have cool fun at all of the free water play areas in Singapore.
And then we’ll be packing our bucket and spade for a day out on each of Singapore’s best beaches. Picnic will be required!
We’re rather lax on bedtimes over vacation, so that means sunset dinners at kid-friendly restaurants are on the agenda.
Disclaimer – we’re not rev head types here at HoneyKids HQ – but the upcoming Monster Jam event has got our motors running. Clearly the kids won’t need any convincing.
Singapore is well known for being a fabulous city for enjoying the outdoors with your family. There’s no time better than summer to visit iconic locations like the Singapore Zoo, Hort Park and Haw Par Villa.
Step back to a simpler time with a day trip to kampong village Pulau Ubin. Yes, a bumboat ride, cycling and wildlife spotting is just what the doctor ordered.
Bask in the summer sunshine by swinging, sliding and climbing your way around Singapore’s best playgrounds.
Cool off and burn off excess energy at one of Singapore’s great indoor play centres for kids, babies and toddlers.
Check out all of our favourite scooting places for kids in Singapore. Free, energetic fun!
And if all else fails, avoid the summer! Here’s our list of activities to help you escape the heat in Singapore. Cool as a cucumber.
