Where to buy Christmas decorations in Singapore: baubles, tinsel, fairy lights and homewares Inquiry

Where to buy Christmas decorations in Singapore: baubles, tinsel, fairy lights and homewares

We love getting a bit crafty with Christmas decorations – check out our pom-pom wreath and garland for some kid-friendly projects, and our DIY Christmas baubles if you’re in the mood to bust out the craft kit too. But, there’s also something quite special about adding to the Christmas decoration collection every year. (Pssst: here’s where to get fake and real Christmas trees in Singapore if you haven’t already gotten one sorted!) Here’s where you can bag the best baubles, snap up awesome snow-globes and get your hands on the sparkliest of fairy lights. We recommend scoping out these stores NOW or all you’ll be left with is tacky tinsel and ragged wreaths!

Christmas Merlion
Add a touch of Singapore to your Christmas tree with a beautifully crafted white bone china Merlion! Grab a single Merlion (pictured top) for $25 or a box of four for $85.

IKEA is a veritable grotto of reasonably prices Xmas decs

IKEA is always great for reasonably prices Xmas decs

IKEA
Now we have recovered from the shock of hearing that there will be no real trees decking the shelves of IKEA this year, we are ready to dive into its huge range of decorative festive staples. Think pendant stars, hanging baubles, wicker reindeers and cheap-as-chips gift wrap too. Double whammy the purpose of your visit to the store by stocking up on great stocking fillers for the kiddos: we are loving the wooden toys, art and craft goodies and cute range of stuffed animals.

Robinsons The Heeren
This store is as close to London’s Selfridges or New York’s Macy’s as it gets when it comes to department store Christmas magic, and we love the wonderland transformation it goes through every November. Expect to find decorations in every colour, size, style and price (we are a little bit in love with the silver and white selections), and head there safe in the knowledge that you will leave with everything you could ever need for your festive decor needs.

Yule absolutely adore the charming decorations including snowmen, reindeers and stars at online shopping boutique, Mustard Tree. This fantastic store is a social enterprise that believes in empowering people with special needs. We love the handmade goodies and beautiful bag charms created by 20-year-old Ryan Koh, an amazing young man who doesn’t let autism get in the way of creating gorgeous wares not just for Christmas, but year-round too. You can order online, but Mustard Tree has just opened its very first store at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital too!

Spotlight
This craft giant is our top spot for snagging craft supplies, and having recently visited ourselves, we can confirm that it is already busting at the seams with Christmas fun. As well as lots of ready-to-go wares (we picked up a festive table cloth, indoor coloured lights and all-essential Xmas door mat!), there are also tons of cool kits, crafts and accessories for you to knock up your own yuletide decor with the family. We are loving the make-your-own Christmas card and paint-your-own bauble kits for some crafty fun with the kiddos.

Galanga Living
Sleek furniture store Galanga Living’s pine cones, garlands, wooden Christmas trees and reindeer will satisfy the kids without compromising your style, while their burnished ornaments and candles are beautiful enough to use year-round. Don’t be fooled into thinking a few select pieces will be enough though – the ‘look’ keeps getting better the more you buy!

Lims
Shop in-store or online at this brickabrack treasure trove of a store where you will find everything from hand painted tree ornaments to faux fir reindeers. These guys have been brightening up Xmas since 1959 and certainly know a thing or two about not only decorations, but also fantastic stocking fillers, repro Asian-style furniture and great homeware too. Pick up a Chinese wedding cabinet and your baubles all in one hit!

Tracy Tristram

Tracy is a Brit mum to The Grumpy Teenager, The Pink Princess and The Small Menace. She uses her love of writing as a well-earned break from watching endless episodes of Top Gear with The Teen, drawing unicorns (badly) with The Princess and pretending to be Optimus Prime with The Menace. She has been loving and living in Singapore for eight years and is rather fond of the sunshine, popiah, Daiso and Himalayan tea lattes.
