Chinese New Year seems to have sidetracked us a tad from the other big occasion that’s coming up super fast: Valentine’s Day 2021! So we say, round up a babysitter or enlist your helper, ditch the kids, pull on your glad rags and try one of Singapore’s most romantic restaurants where you won’t have to order one single chicken nugget. Here’s where we want to be whisked off to on the day of lurve (hint, hint)…
ROMANTIC DINNERS IN SINGAPORE: WHERE TO EAT ON VALENTINE’S DAY 2021
1. The Knolls at Capella Singapore
Ok, so you can’t go jetting away with your love this Valentine’s Day, but you can head over to Sentosa instead for the closest we’ve found to holiday feels (well, at least for the duration of your meal). Treat yourself to a dining experience at The Knolls with a Mediterranean inspired menu and those incredible views overlooking Capella’s cascading pools and the sea. Just for a minute, you might feel like you did make it to Bali for that romantic break after all.

2. Wolfgang’s Steakhouse Singapore
If you and your other half love steak, be sure to pop by Wolfgang’s Steakhouse Singapore this Valentine’s Day. The Valentine’s menu starts off with a delicious Burrata Cheese Salad, followed by clear chicken soup. But it’s the mains we’re really here for. Opt for New York striploin (dry-aged on-site for at least 28 days) or the 60-day dry-aged ribeye and grilled king salmon with a jumbo crab cake. Or, push the boat out with the signature Porterhouse steak for two at an additional price of $50 (it’s worth it!).

3. Hilton Singapore
Hilton Singapore has plenty of romantic offers to impress us this Valentine’s Day. If you’re after a bit of romance under the stars, head up to il Cielo and choose from their three or five-course Italian tasting menu, plus a glass of Prosecco (starting from $118). Or, if steak and seafood float your boat, then Opus Bar & Grill has the perfect Valentine’s Day menu with its three-course semi-sharing menu inclusive of two glasses of Prosecco ($228 per couple). And why not go the whole hog and make a night of it with the Stay & Dine deals on offer – we think you deserve it!

4. Tablescape

If you fancy a good old reminisce this V-Day, then look no further than Tablespace’s playful take on a Valentine’s Day dinner. Each course is named after stages of romance, and the menu takes you and your loved one through the romantic rollercoaster ride that led up to your first date! Not only does it sound intriguing, but it’s delicious too. We’re talking black cod served with a creamy emulsion, a whole poached lobster crowned with foie gras and caviar no less, and options of sea bass or slow-cooked pork belly! You can also add glasses of Champers to the deal to toast those memories!

5. Porta at Park Hotel Clarke Quay

Looking for modern European fare this Valentine’s Day? Porta is serving up a storm with its enticing four-course set dinner ($64 per person). To start, try its purple potato soup with crispy shreds of wonton skin and chives. Up next, chilled angel hair pasta served with ikura, crabmeat, and kombu. Keep room for mains with a hearty portion of Angus ribeye, or pick the Norwegian salmon fillet, accompanied by creamy avocado purée, cherry tomato, and pea shoots. And, perhaps the best until last? Chocolate hazelnut praline with berries and zesty passionfruit coulis, yum! Psst – it’s also available for takeaway if you fancy a cosy date night at home once the kids are in bed.

6. Flutes
Flutes has long held the title as one of Singapore’s most romantic dining spots (we’ve been going there for special occasions since it was at leafy Fort Canning). And, its current location in the breathtaking National Museum only ramps up the romance factor. Plus, the impeccable service doesn’t hurt either! Food-wise, expect to be wowed with dishes like beef tartare kueh pie tee, Rangers Valley wagyu striploin, and finally, textures of chocolate, pistachio and rose. Divine!

7. Zafferano Italian Restaurant and Lounge
There’s nothing more romantic than an unparalleled view of the Marina waterfront while you dine on scrumptious Italian dishes. So this Valentine’s Day 2021, say “ti amo” to your loved one with a sumptuous five-course dinner spread at Zafferano. There is a three-course or five-course menu to choose from, and both sound very tempting indeed. You can expect a menu full of Italian delights with a signature local twist. Our picks include the house-made ‘tagliolini’ pasta with Hokkaido sea urchin and Amur oscietra caviar, or the A4 Kagoshima wagyu beef striploin with Romanesco and ‘Karashi’ bearnaise. Note: the three-course option is until 7.15pm, so it’s for early diners only.

8. Nox Dine in the Dark
No time to glam up (thanks, kids!)? We’ve got the perfect solution: Nox Dine in the Dark! Your romantic three-course meal will be served in total darkness so no need to worry about that pimple you didn’t have time to cover, or the baby food on your skirt… Chow down (as messily as you like, no one is looking) on a decadent menu of 12 unique dishes over three-courses. We say add on the cocktail tasting too. It is Valentine’s Day!

9. Bayswater Kitchen
Fresh, quality seafood is at the heart of this relaxed seafront restaurant on Keppel Bay – perfect if you’re not feeling your skyscraper heels and LBD. The chilled six-course tasting menu includes crab and tomato salad, aged parmesan and truffle linguine, seared barramundi and more to share with your love. Psst – you can also add a bouquet of roses to your dinner… you might want to subtly let the other half know!

10. The Summerhouse
If it’s a splurge you fancy, and somewhere that the kids would turn their nose up at every single thing on the menu, then The Summerhouse is it. Though its garden domes are now fully booked, you’ll still be able to enjoy a four-course sharing menu with sumptuous dishes like lobster bisque, pan-seared snapper, or Inka-grilled tenderloin in the gorgeous dining room instead.

11. The Halia
Hidden in the Ginger Garden of Singapore Botanic Gardens, The Halia’s peaceful setting (no kids!) makes for the perfect romantic setting for a special Valentine’s Day dinner date. Not only is it Halal-certified, but the restaurant’s Valentine’s Day menu is a shared feast of tasty delights, with a sweet basket ready to go filled with a selection of surprises and even a picnic mat. You’ll have everything you need for a romantic night in the gardens. It’s a win-win date for us!

12. Blue Jasmine

Add a bit of spice this Valentine’s with the Thai-Peranakan inspired set menu over at Blue Jasmine. Pick from two delectable set menus. Options include our favourite Thai fish cakes, kueh pie tee, and a delicious New Zealand ribeye steak topped with Asian green chimichurri. Save room for the lava cake with coconut ice cream too – it’s divine! Psst – the menu also includes one bottle of house pour wine – winning!

13. Restaurant Gaig
Push the boat out with the six-course Catalan dinner over at Restaurant Gaig. You’re in for a treat with a glass of Cava to get proceedings started; then it’s onto the culinary showstoppers, including foie gras and green apple foam! Other dishes on the extensive menu include the restaurant’s traditional cannelloni (a signature dish since 1869 no less!). For mains, there’s sole with black winter truffle, or venison tenderloin. Finish with After Eight (the Chef’s take on that well-loved confectionery), and an assortment of petit fours!

14. Goodwood Park Hotel
Goodwood Park Hotel is treating us to two options come Valentine’s Day. There’s a romantic evening in store over at Gordon Grill with a five-course extravaganza. Some of the highlights include fish hamachi carpaccio and pan-roasted quail to start, then Black Angus tenderloin, lobster and halibut fillet for main. If you’re looking for a daytime option, then the L’Espresso afternoon tea is sure to float your boat with a wide array of delish sweet and savoury goodies. Plus on the big day itself, you get a complimentary glass of bubbles, yay!

15. Bee’s Knees or Botanico at The Garage

If you’re looking for an option that won’t break the bank (but still ticks all the boxes for a great, romantic dinner), then look no further than the Bee’s Knees. Located in our favourite Singapore Botanic Gardens, there’s a three-course option in-store, plus additional his and her cocktail pairings! Or, if you fancy a picnic with your other half instead, then snap up one of the special Valentine’s Day buzz-kets on offer! Need one final option? Book a table in the tropical indoor or outdoor garden at Botanico and indulge in the five-course dinner menu which is sure to impress the other half…

16. LeVeL33
If you’ve got a head for heights and love a microbrewery, then LeVeL33 is sure to fit the bill for the perfect Valentine’s Day celebration. And that’s before we’ve mentioned the tantalising six-course menu on offer. Start off with oysters (all in the name of love), before Peking duck and scallops. Save space for the marbled Wagyu rump served with fluffy mashed potatoes, sweet black garlic sauce and earthy sautéed mushrooms. Desserts give a nod to the microbrewery, with dark chocolate mousse spiked with LeVeL33’s own house-brewed stout, as well as malt beer ice cream using in-house brew. Talk about drunk in love!

17. Buona Terra
Buona Terra instantly scores romance points for its location in a gorgeous colonial building surrounded by greenery. And that’s before we’ve even started on the menu, which looks pretty fabulous too! There are six-courses for you and the other half to work your way through. Start with a sharing selection of fish, seafood and 50g Oscietra caviar. That’s followed by a spaghetti and Wagyu course, and there’s more where that came from. There are also specially selected wines to toast the occasion. For instance, the Arboreus Paolo Bea is produced in the region of Umbria where Saint Valentine was born! Pretty impressive attention to detail, we say…

18. W Sentosa Singapore
W Sentosa has two fabulous options if you’re looking for romance over on tropical Sentosa. First up, there’s a three-course set menu over at grill restaurant, SKIRT, with pan-seared black cod and Wagyu sirloin both making an appearance. Or, indulge in the four-course tasting menu at The Kitchen Table, which includes a salmon Champagne cloud (yes please), and shellfish bisque.
