We’re always on the lookout for ways to keep our kids busy as bees. Whether it be climbing the jungle gym at the playground, curling up with a good book or trying out a new sport, finding fun ways to keep the kids fully entertained can be tough sometimes. If you’re looking for something new to add to your arsenal of tricks, DrawnBy:Jessica‘s silicone washable colouring mats might just be what you’re looking for!
Why we love it
The moment we saw founder Jessica Tan’s cute drawings, we knew we had to click on the ‘add to cart’ button, stat! Unlike your typical washable colouring mats, Jessica’s designs are all original and hand-drawn. They’re also quite detailed, which shows the amount of effort she puts into making sure each element is as accurate and recognisable as possible, which is perfect for growing, inquisitive minds. Another reason we love them? They’re easy to roll up, wipe down and stick in your purse for meals out or even airplane trips. A great alternative to handing the kids an iPad or a phone, we think!
How DrawnBy:Jessica started
In May 2017, Jessica was in her final trimester, just waiting to pop. Looking for ways to kill time, she started doodling on paper. She started off by thinking of a theme and then filling in an A4 sheet of paper with little doodles and drawings, which she would post on Facebook. Lots of her friends then started asking if she could make prints for them to colour in… and the rest is history!
“DrawnBy:Jessica is really a culmination of my passion to draw and enjoy art. For now, I am just so humbled and honoured every time someone comes to me to tell me that my designs bring so much joy to their kids,” says Jessica. “Not to mention they offer a bit of a respite for parents while their kids are engaged in something that doesn’t involve a tablet, phone or TV screen. It makes me feel like I’m doing some good in this world!”
Why not get your own DrawnBy:Jessica mat to keep your littlies entertained? Don’t forget to add in a set of markers that are easily erasable and washable, too.
