We discovered a secret haven in Dempsey with exciting teacher-led classes and a wilderness of outdoor play. And did we mention the food?
We’re always searching for new and different things to do with the kids in Singapore. And we’re big fans of member clubs, with all the facilities to keep our families and friends entertained. So of course we were super excited to hear about the opening of b_together, a brand new family club in Dempsey! Especially when it comes with the most delightful certified teaching staff. They’ll be hosting super fun creative classes to entertain the littles while we enjoy delicious food and drinks in an elegant tropical oasis (with a choice of indoor or outdoor seating, no less).
Opening its doors in June 2022, b_together is the brand new brainchild from effervescent mama mogul Maggie Bolger. We had a sneak peek at the revamped restaurant, aptly named AT Feast. We also got the lowdown on all the plans for this new family haven in one of our favourite neighbourhoods, Dempsey Hill.
AT Feast: our new family favourite cafe in Dempsey
If you haven’t visited AT Feast at Dempsey, hop right to it, because it’s open now! You’ll find this cafe restaurant hidden beside the stunning store, Kids21. AT Feast has a beautiful, relaxed dining area, perfect for mums and bubs to meet up. It’s also a great venue for a coffee catch up with friends. Stay for lunch and try the burger with sweet potato fries (yes, please!), but leave room for dessert – the brownie is delish. The kids will love roaming the outdoor playground – just be prepared for them to return a little muddy!
b_together: a brand new family club opening in Singapore
AT Feast will be the restaurant attached to the elusive new family club, b_together. Besides a range of indoor and outdoor play spaces (check out the cool map above!), there’ll also be a library, a workspace, and specialised class areas. Kids can sign up for fun classes from cooking to drama to art!
Can’t wait to explore the new club? We sat down with Michaelina Turrell, Head of Learning, to talk all things b_together and find out more about her vision.
Classes are created and taught by lovely, qualified teachers
Michaelina was born in Singapore to a multi-cultural and diverse family. She’s been fortunate to live and travel extensively, and most recently spent time at the b_together sister club in London. A certified teacher, Michaelina is incredibly warm. Her passion for teaching and sharing her joy of learning is instantly evident.
“I can’t wait for b_together’s opening day!” she smiles brightly, as we sit down for lunch at a corner table in AT Feast’s elegant dining room. Michaelina is bubbling with plans for cooking classes to be held in the specially designed multi-purpose space and kids’ kitchen hidden behind a door in the dining area. We peek inside. There’s a long bench big enough for a whole class of children, complete with hidden sinks and food cupboards. At the other end of the room, there’s a beautiful rug and cushions on the floor area perfect for baby music classes.
“I really want families and kids of all ages to feel safe here. It’s a space older kids can come and learn some really useful life skills, while having fun at the same time.”
A wander of the grounds reveals extensive plans for fun and interactive spaces where enrichment classes will take place. There’s a members-only playground, complete with a special yurt that can accommodate anything from children’s parties and camps to drama performances. Plus, a magical treehouse that encourages all kinds of creative play. Pop by the beautifully renovated clubhouse and head upstairs to find arts and craft classes, as well as a calm and peaceful members’ lounge area.
