We love a school that guides children to achieve their full potential – and the Dennis family found just that in Tanglin Trust School.
Every parent wants to help their children discover their potential, and Lizzie Dennis is no different. Drawn to Tanglin Trust School’s commitment to inspire every child to be the best they can be, Lizzie decided to enrol her daughters – Agnes and Margot – in August 2023. She has seen both of them thrive in the school since then.
Here’s Lizzie’s story about how she knew she found the perfect school for her children.
What were you looking for in a school for Agnes and Margot?
We wanted a school that is academically strong and offers a wide range of extracurricular opportunities for our girls. It’s especially important that the school supports and challenges them academically as well.
We found all these in Tanglin, which impressed us on many fronts. The school focuses on trying to help students be the best they can be by challenging and supporting them academically. Tanglin has a huge campus with excellent facilities, but the layout and strong sense of community makes it feel like a small school where everyone knows each other.

Did Tanglin live up to your expectations?
It certainly did! We’ve seen our daughters thrive academically and socially. Agnes and Margot are supported academically by the school’s teaching staff, who have been incredibly responsive to any concerns and questions we have. The girls also settled in well, thanks to Tanglin’s strong well-being and life skills programme.
That’s good to hear! Can you elaborate more on how the school made your daughters feel welcome?
We could see that the teachers cared about the girls from day one. The care and warmth they showed made such a difference for Agnes and Margot, helping them settle in and feel at home. They both love attending Tanglin!
What do they like best about Tanglin?
Margot loves seeing her teachers and friends, and she likes her lessons as well, particularly English, Maths, and Art. Agnes, on the other hand, loves the extracurricular activities available. Both of them swim and play violin, so it’s great that they get to do so in a school with top notch swimming and music facilities.

Another thing we appreciate about Tanglin is the support it provides in making the transition from junior to Middle School seamless. Agnes benefited significantly from this as she has just progressed to Year 7 and is enjoying it.
What about parents – are there any support or community for parents at Tanglin?
Yes, Tanglin works collaboratively with parents through the Friends of Tanglin community group. This group connects and supports both new and current families of Tanglin, and even those who are new to Singapore.
Thank you so much for sharing your story with us, Lizzie!
