From having a Culture of Care to amazing specialist programs, read on to find out what else sets Stamford American International School’s Early Learning Village apart…
Described as a treasure trove of state-of-the-art school facilities, Stamford American International School’s (SAIS) Early Learning Village is a welcoming and exciting place for children to learn and explore. But the amazing facilities aren’t the only aspect that makes it a great preschool – check out all the things that sets the Early Learning Village apart from the others.
1. It’s a preschool with a Culture of Care
SAIS prides itself in being a big school with the heart of a small school, focusing on creating a deep sense of belonging for its students and parents. This applies to the little ones at the Village as well! This is an inclusive preschool that not only welcomes but celebrates students from different backgrounds. For example, the school had an International Fiesta where kids learned about other cultures through flag colouring, a virtual karate demonstration, and sampling a wide variety of international treats. SAIS’ Superintendent Dr. Mark Wenzel said, “our commitment is to develop a deep sense of belonging, value, and connectedness for every student who passes through our gates – as we inspire them to think, write, design, compose and collaborate on the road to discovery and life success.”
2. It offers world class specialist programs
Children at the Village have access to world class specialist programs from as young as 18 months old. These programs – such as Daily Mandarin or Spanish, SMART Steps, and Perceptual Motor Program – are taught by dedicated staff and conducted with specialised equipment. Specialist physical education programs like SMART Steps and Perceptual Motor Program contribute to a child’s brain development, while the specialist language programs help shape them into global citizens with an appreciation for cultural diversity.
3. It follows a unique one-bilingual-teacher model for its Bilingual Program
Another thing that sets the Village apart from other preschools is that it follows a one-bilingual-teacher approach for its English-Mandarin Bilingual Program. This means that students learn from a teacher and teaching assistant who are fluent in both languages. This unique program is offered to students from Pre-K to Grade 5, and students can join at no extra cost! You can read more about how a day at a SAIS’ bilingual classroom is like here.
4. It has impressive musical programs
The Village is the only school in Singapore to offer the world-renowned Suzuki Violin Program for students aged three and above, with the option to progress to cello from KG2. Similarly, students of the same age also have access to its Instrumental Music Program (IMP), music tuition taught by quality music instructors that’s available in group or private classes. The school even has a dedicated IMP coordinator to organise these classes taught in eight of its music suites.
5. It has a unique curriculum that’s taught by early learning education specialists
Parents can rest assured that their children will be learning from the best at the Village. All of its teachers are early learning specialists, equipped with knowledge and experience to ensure their students have a happy time learning in school. The Village also uses a unique curriculum that’s guided by the USA Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework and the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (IB PYP), incorporated with STEAMInn (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics, and Innovation). Your child’s progress will also be carefully monitored using the GOLD Assessment system, which helps inform teachers on their development and educational needs.
