After three kids, my checklist for the perfect stroller runs long. Is there really one stroller that does it all? I took the Nuna x BMW TRVL Lx stroller on a test drive.
When I first became a mum, I was baffled by how little information there was on finding the right stroller. How was no one talking about the perfect stroller that you could push a newborn in and would also grow with them, with an easy-fold for getting in and out of a car or taxi, and car seat compatibility for safety?!
Many ‘best strollers’ lists were filled with suggestions for strollers that can go over rough terrain (I’m definitely not taking a stroller on a hike), ones with big wheels for neighbourhood walks (but how would we get on the bus or MRT?), and ultra-lightweight ones that are only for babies six months and up (and just didn’t look that sturdy!).
Three kids later, I finally found the best combination that works for my family and grows with baby – an easy-folding lightweight stroller with car seat compatibility.
Enter: the Nuna x BMW TRVL Lx!
The Nuna x BMW TRVL Lx stroller’s specs

At its core, this stroller is essentially the well-loved Nuna TRVL Lx with stylish BMW accents. Best known for its compact size, one-hand fold and easy recline, this travel stroller has already been a favourite among Nuna fans since it came out around 2021. In collaboration with BMW, the new Nuna x BMW TRVL Lx sports the BMW logo on its airless tyres and peek-a-boo window flap, with the iconic BMW Crystal design adorning the stroller’s black frame and seat fabric.
The stroller came well-packed in a compact box, so some assembly was needed. It was pretty easy – disclaimer, I was 38 weeks pregnant when it came and my husband did all the assembling. The most stressful part was watching him refuse the instructions and fumble around to put it together. With the help of the manual and video tutorials, we (he) got there in the end!
The Nuna x BMW TRVL Lx weighs about 7kg, and is said to be suitable from birth to 22kg. The stroller comes with a rain cover and stroller cover for travel.
Let’s go for a test drive: Nuna x BMW TRVL Lx’s top features
Impressive one-hand fold

The seamless one-hand fold won me over instantly! It quickly became my most famous party trick when family and friends asked about our stroller – if you could only see the reactions that would ensue from the one-click fold. It’s that impressive. This meant I could easily fold the stroller to load into the car, or store it away neatly upon getting home, all while having baby on one arm if I needed to.
Car seat compatibility: Look ma, no adapters!

The next hurdle: I was sure I’d want to take baby home from the hospital safely in a car seat. Add to the fact that we’d need to easily take the car seat in and out of taxis as we don’t have a car of our own, carseat compatibility was a top priority for us. You can imagine my surprise when I then learned that the TRVL Lx pairs perfectly with the Nuna PIPA Urbn car seat – WITHOUT adapters! Sold separately, the PIPA Urbn car seat pops onto the TRVL Lx armbar without a hitch and is just as easy to install in the car with its built-in ISOFIX system. We haven’t had to deal with pesky seat belts ever since, and it’s been a game changer.
Smooth in every way

I know I gave grief earlier about strollers that can go over various terrains but TRVL Lx’s wheels are worth taking it all back. The wheel size on those airless tyres really make a difference for a smooth ride, and I felt minimal bumps going over cracks, drains and uneven sidewalks – SO important when you’re trying not to wake a sleeping baby!
Another unique feature of the TRVL Lx is its shadow reel recline. The stroller’s back rest lies almost flat in one nifty pull (coupled with the 3 to 5-point no-rethread harness, little ones are secured safely no matter their age and size!) and has multiple seat adjustment heights. Putting the back rest back in upright positioning is as easy as one single push.
Here’s an easy overview of the Nuna x BMW TRVL Lx’s pros and cons:
Pros
- Smooth one-hand fold
- No adapters needed for carseat
- Easy backrest adjustment
- Supportive wheels
- Spacious basket (fits at least two medium-sized bags easily!)
- Good stroller-to-table height for dining out
- Cabin-friendly
- Arm bar easily opens for toddlers to climb on and off
Cons
- There’s a learning curve when trying to push up steps or curbs as the stroller doesn’t have a footrest
- Non-adjustable push handle, but suits most Asian’s heights
- World-facing only, and only parent-facing in the car seat
- No compatible buggy board for older siblings (you can buy a third-party accessory for this but at your own risk)
So, is the Nuna x BMW TRVL Lx stroller worth it?
In short, YES. At $759 it’s competitively priced compared to other famous travel strollers like the Stokke YOYO ($839), Ergobaby Metro ($899) and Bugaboo Butterfly ($839).
After testing out the Nuna x BMW TRVL Lx for about six months, I can safely say it’s one of my favourite pieces of baby gear at the moment. I’ll admit that with a clingy newborn it’s not always easy to just pop him in and stroll around, but we’ve been getting a lot of use out of the stroller with my three-year-old too. He loves the seat height and feels some independence being able to climb on and off the stroller by himself thanks to the removable arm bar. I do wish the stroller had a compatible buggy board so he could ride at the back while his adik takes the main seat though!
I know some parents feel strongly that babies under six months should be parent-facing only when riding in a stroller, but I’ve also occasionally let my five-month-old sit world-facing with the seat reclined for short periods and he seems to enjoy it without being overstimulated. It’s something you can consider if you need to push your little one around without a car seat.
And seriously, that one-hand fold. Absolutely life-changing!
The Nuna x BMW TRVL Lx retails for $759 at Mothercare and all BMW showrooms islandwide.
