International French School (Singapore) collaborates with TotalEnergies ENEOS to generate clean electricity for school operations, while reducing carbon footprint by 350 tonnes!
The gold winner of our Sustainable International School of the Year 2023 continues to promote sustainability through a partnership with TotalEnergies ENEOS, a company that specialises in renewable energy solutions.
1,180 solar panels have been installed across multiple buildings in International French School’s (Singapore) campus. This initiative is expected to help the school produce approximately 900 MWh of clean electricity (the average consumption of 200 households in Singapore!) to power the school’s operations annually. With this, IFS and TotalEnergies ENEOS expects to help reduce 350 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions per year.
Students have the best opportunity to learn more about sustainability
One of IFS’ winning factors as Sustainable International School of the Year is that it integrates sustainability into the curriculum by making it a living reality. Relying on clean, renewable energy for day-to-day school operations allows students to witness sustainable practices firsthand.
The solar panels are used as educational tools in the classroom. Students learn about the technology and equipment used in the solar panel system: from how the panels work, to how light and heat are converted into usable electricity. These are topics that spread across a wide range of subjects, including science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
“Our partnership with TotalEnergies ENEOS allows us to embrace renewable energy and provides an invaluable educational opportunity. Integrating sustainability and clean energy concepts into our curriculum empowers our students to become
environmentally conscious leaders who will shape a brighter future for all,” Mr. David Binan, IFS’ Principal shared.
The initiative is part of IFS and TotalEnergies ENEOS’ shared goal
IFS and TotalEnergies ENEOS share the same values and aim in promoting the importance of sustainability among the younger generation. Both the school and the company are excited about the partnership’s potential in shaping a greener future.
“By combining our expertise and resources, we can create a significant impact towards building a sustainable future. This partnership is a testament to our shared values and commitment to sustainability,” Elodie Renaud, Director of TotalEnergies ENEOS shared.
