Dover Court International School has consistently produced amazing academic results while maintaining its commitment to being an inclusive school. Here’s how it does it…
Dover Court International School’s students did it again! Not only did the school achieve the second-highest International Baccalaureate Diploma (IBDP) results in Singapore in June 2022, but it also has the highest score across all 81 Nord Anglia Education group schools, of which it is a member. Dover Court’s students achieved an average score of 39, significantly higher than the global average of 31.9. Overall, the school boasts a 100% passing rate, with more than half of its students receiving a score of 40 and above – three of them even scored 44 points!
But Dover Court’s IBDP cohort isn’t the only one that’s achieving amazing results. The school’s IGCSE students scored equally impressive results: 21% of all the grades were 9, and all students achieved a grade of 4 and above in Mathematics and English. One of its students scored the highest mark in the world for History; while two others scored the highest mark in Singapore for Mathematics and Science, respectively. On top of that, Dover Court’s first-ever BTEC cohort received a 100% pass rate, with 33% of the students earning a Merit Distinction.
And the best part? Dover Court managed to help its students achieve these incredible results through being an inclusive and non-selective international school. Here’s how they do it.
A personalised approach to education with multiple curricula options
Being an inclusive school, Dover Court doesn’t believe in a ‘one size fits all’ approach to education. Instead, the school offers a personalised learning experience to its students. Teachers plan lessons according to each student’s knowledge, strengths, and progress. Lessons are also constantly adapted to the support each student needs. This is made possible by the school’s small class sizes, with 24 being the maximum for its mainstream classes and 10 for its supportive education Pathways classes.
As each student has their own unique talents and aspirations, Dover Court caters to this by providing them with multiple curricula options. Secondary school students start with the National Curriculum for England in Years 7 to 8; before transitioning to the IGCSE, or BTEC Level 1 or ASDAN courses in Years 9 to 11. Upon reaching Sixth Form, students can continue to choose to pursue either the IBDP or International BTEC Diploma. While the curricular options are tailored to each student’s strengths, all students share core experiences such as trips, sport, career guidance, and tutor time.
A warm, inclusive, and vibrant learning environment
It’s not all study and no play at Dover Court. Students have loads of opportunities to learn outside of the classroom. The school offers a variety of co-curricular activities, including an exclusive UNICEF summit held in New York City, STEAM challenges through the MIT-Nord Anglia collaboration, and competitive sports as part of DCIS Wolves. Students also learn about social responsibility through community initiatives, such as Singapore’s OneMillionTrees movement.
All these take place in a warm and inclusive environment that the school has created for its students. There’s a sense of community and togetherness at Dover Court, where students genuinely support and care for each other. Students also develop empathy through learning within such a uniquely diverse school community.
The results speak for themselves
Does personalised education and inclusivity in school contribute to a student’s overall success? You bet! Based on the baseline assessment that students take at the beginning of Year 9, Dover Court’s students score an average of two full points above their predicted score on their IGCSE exams. This goes to show that the inclusive education and outstanding teachers provided at Dover Court are the key to helping all students experience their own unique success.
