A magical garden within a kindergarten? It exists – right here at Canadian International School, and the school is giving you a glimpse of what it’s like to learn and play there this 22 November.
The early years can be a magical experience for a child. Armed with their natural curiosity, a walk in the park could be a day of exploration where everyday things become mysterious discoveries. Their powerful imagination is at work as well, capable of repurposing simple toys into props for enchanted pretend play.
The best part? Children pick up new skills and knowledge while they’re learning this way.
If this sounds like the perfect way to kickstart your child’s learning journey, you’ll be thrilled to know that this is exactly what Canadian International School (CIS) offers in its Early Years programme. What’s more, its youngest students get to learn and play in a magical garden on a daily basis – and you’ll get to experience this at its upcoming Magical Garden Party on 22 November 2025, 9.30am – 11.30am.
Step into CIS Kindergarten’s magical garden

Students play outside every day as part of the usual school day at CIS. They also have lessons once a week in the outdoor discovery centre.
On top of this, the school’s youngest learners in Nursery, Pre-Kindergarten, and Junior Kindergarten are outside every morning for the 90-minute Flow and Grow programme. You’ll hear music playing, and specialist teachers will have multiple learning spaces and play invitations set up for the children.
Sounds like fun and games? That’s how children discover and learn at CIS.

CIS Kindergarten children learn through play. Their sound exploration session in the garden is designed to develop their counting skills as well as science knowledge. Children are learning to identify the sounds, picking up data handling skills, and practising their counting skills simultaneously.
Lesson planning is also happening in the background while the children are at Flow and Grow. While children play (and learn) at each space, CIS teachers are observing their play and interaction to gain comprehensive insight into each child’s needs. They use these observations to plan lessons and activities that not only align with the curriculum goals, but are tailormade to support every student’s individual growth too.
Being an International Baccalaureate (IB) school, CIS Kindergarten shapes every child’s learning journey following the IB Learner Profile, which has 10 attributes (thinker, principled, caring, reflective, balanced, risk-taker, communicator, knowledgeable, inquirer, and open-minded). All of these are woven into the CIS Kindergarten curriculum, as well as a child’s daily life in school in the form of play and exploration.
Come experience the magic at CIS Kindergarten

You and your family are invited to get a glimpse of what a day at CIS Kindergarten is like through its Magical Garden Party, happening on 22 November 2025 (9.30am – 11.30am). Held at the school’s outdoor discovery centre, expect a host of games and activities that are educationally designed for children as young as six months to eight years old.
Let the little ones create a tiara or crown at Betty Butterfly’s arts studio, and bring along their creation to join Marty Moth’s storytelling sessions in English, French, and Chinese. They can explore arts and maths at Sally Spider’s web city; or pick up maths and science concepts at Aunty Ant’s mud and sand kitchen. Up for a challenge? Charlie Caterpillar has his obstacle course set up for little ninja warriors.
Pro-tip: Water bottles and a ‘ready for anything’ attitude are recommended must-haves for the Magical Garden Party!
