The Kindergarten Discovery Day is a perfect opportunity for families to find out more about Canadian International School Kindergarten’s inquiry and play-based teaching approach.
Attention, parents with young kids: Canadian International School (CIS) invites you and your family to join its Kindergarten Discovery Day! This morning of discovery will be held at the school’s Outdoor Discovery Centre, a beautiful space where inquiry-based learning takes place through purposeful play. We’ve got all the important deets here.
Date: 10 November 2023
Time: 9-10am
Venue: Canadian International School, 7 Jurong West Street 41, Singapore 649414
Kids are welcome to join the fun teacher-led activities
Your little ones will be delighted to see that there are four activity stations prepped just for them. CIS’ expert teachers will lead these activities, where children will learn about numeracy, literacy, STEAM, and art. The aim of these activities, according to CIS Kindergarten’s new Principal Angela Speirs, is to develop each child’s potential while equipping them with the necessary skills to succeed in school and beyond.
Little future mathematicians will explore the concepts of shape, volume, and sequencing at the numeracy station. They can also expect multi-sensory activities at the literacy station, all of which will help with their pre-writing and pre-reading skills.
The STEAM station is a must-try, where children can explore ice painting. Through this cool (literally!) activity, children will learn about cause and effect as they observe how ice changes from a solid to liquid state. On top of developing their creative skills, this activity helps with fine and gross motor skills as well as hand-eye coordination. Plus, language development happens too as they discuss the mixing of colours and its changes with the teachers.
Magic happens at the art station where children can craft enchanting flowers, dragons, fairies, or anything their imagination conjures using sustainable student-made watercolours sheets. This teaches children about the distinction between 2D and 3D modelling. At the same time, it hones their fine motor skills through the squeezing of droppers and the twisting of paper.
Parents have the opportunity to meet and speak to CIS’ teachers
Aside from being able to see CIS’ inquiry and purposeful play approach in action, this is the chance for parents to engage with the school’s teachers. You can find out more about the kindergarten’s curriculum, ask about the facilities, and experience the teachers’ caring spirit firsthand.
Plus, the Admission Team will also be there to answer all your burning questions about enrollment and application process.
Sign up and witness the power of play and learning through inquiry
Parents often ask how a school plans to balance both academic rigour, as well as help children develop softer skills and competencies at an early age. CIS’ inquiry-based and purposeful play approach aim to set that solid foundation for academic success beyond a child’s school life. In this school, your child will be challenged, learn to think critically, and be confident as well as resilient.
CIS believes that learning happens when children and having fun and making discoveries for themselves in a hands-on, real-world way. You and your family can see that for yourselves at the school’s Kindergarten Discovery Day. Sign up for your slot now!
