Pretty up those noggins with fabulous face coverings for the whole famalam. Because we can all social distance with style...
Here in Singapore, we’re already used to wearing face masks, thanks to the haze. But since the Covid-19 pandemic first hit, they’ve become like a second skin. In fact, masks are part of our daily mum uniform – we can’t leave the house without ’em! And, while the whole family’s been donning our government-issue reusable masks for a while, they’re… well.. they’re just not pretty. Little people? Soooo much more likely to don a kids’ face mask if they’re cute and adorable. And us? Seeing as how covering half of our face is saving us a fortune in lipstick and make-up, we reckon we might as well buy some pretty and cute face masks instead to zhuzh things up a little from the neck up. So, if you’re wondering where to buy face masks in Singapore, we’ve got you covered. Literally.
Where to buy reusable face masks in Singapore
FOR THE KIDS
Kiddos bored of plain white masks? Struggling to get them incentivised to cover up? Then you’ll want to check out these fun and cute reusable face masks for kids!
Little Odd Forest
Wow wee, we LOVE the designs from Little Odd Forest! Embrace your wild side with super-cute face masks in a range of animal designs. The adjustable sizing means these make great kids’ masks, but we’re totally crushing on them as well for us adults, and quite rightly. If for some unfathomable reason you’re not down with the animal mouth designs pictured up top (who even are you?), then there’s a range of other equally gorgeous prints to choose from, too. Rainbows, cheetahs, flowers… these are reusable masks at their prettiest.
Oh Happy Fry
We adore online store Oh Happy Fry at the best of times for its cool toys, puzzles and kids’ clothes. But guess what? It also stocks pretty darn cute kids’ masks! Take your pick from cotton or Aerosilver mesh designs. There are also storage pouches for your face masks and, if your kiddo isn’t a fan of close-fitting fabric, the store stocks face shields too. Even better, you can also shop for yourself too while you’re at it as the adult designs are sweeeeeeeet.
Ultra Masks
You’ll no doubt be familiar with Ultra Mask – its makers, Ghim Li, have so far created two versions of its three-layer protection face masks that were nationally distributed in Singapore. No, these ones don’t come in fun prints and patterns. But we’re giving them a shoutout because you can buy limited-edition iron-on patches from its Lazada store to customise the kids’ masks. How cool?! Get ’em quick, while stocks last. (i.e. before we snap ’em all up ourselves!)
Le Petit Society
Our hearts! We know our kids will think the face masks from Le Petit Society are totally roarsome – how cute are those animal illustrations?! At just $10 a pop, they’re pretty good value, too. Different sizes mean us parents can enjoy some twinning action as well – huzzah!
Bumwear
The range isn’t huge at Bumwear, but if you’ve got a young ‘un who’s seriously into unicorns, then definitely check these out! There are several quirkier designs for adults too that are cartoon-esque in design if you like things on the more playful side. And, if you’re looking for where to buy replacement filters for your reusable face masks, you can pick up a bundle here.
Naina Nisa
Equally good for adults, Naina Nisa has some cute face masks for kids if you’re looking for some fun patterns to suit the littlies. And **STOP THE PRESS**… there’s even Frozen, superhero and The Lion King designs. We die.
Bonus mention: Gill Mask
OK, so this one isn’t pretty, we get it. However, this one’s innovative and ticks the safety boxes – and it’s available as a kids’ mask and for adults, too! Gill Mask makes a respirator mask with a detachable cartridge whose design came from a scuba mask. Pretty cool, huh? The makers say its air-tight seal ensures optimal protection (it’s certified as personal protection equipment, or PPE) and is comfy to wear for long periods. Plus it lasts for up to two years! Made from biocompatible skin-friendly materials, the mask can be easily sterilized in boiling water or with household disinfectant.
FOR MUM
We reckon the whole face mask thing isn’t going anywhere for a long time. So if you’re wondering where to buy pretty face masks in Singapore, worry no more. Try these brands on for size and get yourself a whole new reusable mask wardrobe. You’ll be smiling behind them in no time… (psst, don’t forget that lots of the kids masks we mentioned above also sell adult options too!)
1929 Mask
1929 Mask launched its three-ply reusable masks back in March 2020 in response to the government’s call for local companies to help meet the mask shortage. The masks were treated with water-repellant and anti-microbial properties, and were tested to last for 100 washes. While they did the job (and still do), they were only available in black and navy. Fast forward a couple of months and now the brand has launched a range of colourful masks. Yep, we’ve tried and tested several from the range (because one’s never enough, right?) and we love the stylish prints, but also the security we’re protected, too. Psst, the classic range is available in children’s sizing.
Hanky Buddies
The newly launched face masks from Hanky Buddies are awesome for adults, and one size fits all. Priced at $14.95 each, the designs include popular prints from the brand’s past hanky collections. And this is strictly limited, folks – only 25 masks are available per design! They’re made from 100% combed cotton, come with adjustable straps around the ears, as well as a filter pocket and complimentary PM2.5 filter. The masks are also machine-washable and colour-fast.
Independent Market
Why not make things easy on yourself for once and buy yourself a handy bundle of four cute masks in one handy shopping manoeuvre? Over at Independent Market, there are various options for face mask sets for both adults and kids. Our pick? We love the Bright & Cheery option, but we ADORE the cute and quirky reusable masks as pictured above. Made in a soft, breathable fabric, these are washable, made with 100% cotton fabric and come with an inner cotton gauze pocket for inserting a disposable filter. There’s also a hilarious clear panel mask so you can FINALLY show off that new lippie shade!
Bead Bad Wolf
If you’re anything like us, then you’ll have the utmost respect for the uber-talented Bead Bad Wolf (check out our feature article on its creator, Cheryl!). These beautiful hand embroidered face masks were a limited-edition run and we can happily say we managed to get our mitts on one. Follow Cheryl on Instagram to see if and when her next batch will be released. News just in: her celestial range is IN and it’s a beauty. Go, go, go!
Pomelo
We’re diggin’ the cool mask vibes at fashion brand Pomelo – you’d struggle to shortlist just one favourite, we reckon. These beauties have a 100 per cent Japanese Cotton outer, while the inner layer is made from cosmetic-grade silk cotton, making it ideal for sensitive skin.
Bonus mention: Copperline Mask
The folks over at Yappie have come up with the Copperline Mask – the first in the world that has been verified and proven to render the coronavirus inactive, which prevents the spread of Covid-19. Not only that, but the mask’s also made of ionised copper yarn knitted into fabrics of different colours, and is anti-bacterial and environmentally-friendly. It even has UV protection! We love the plethora of options available despite its relatively-plain design, and it even comes with a range of sizes. Psst, you can definitely buy one for the kids, too: Copperline Mask’s smallest size fits kids aged three and up.
