Is it really the last weekend in November already? Oh, yes indeedy. But before we jump feet first into the countdown to Christmas and all the festive fun that December brings, we’ve got plenty of cool activities for kids to fill up their weekend. From a prehistoric exhibition (no, we’re not in it, kids) to hanging out with grandparents, music for little Mozarts to musical theatre comedy, there’s plenty happening to make November go out with a bang…
1. Dine with a conscience
SUPRMRKT has long been on our lunch-break radar (truffle fries…) so we’re excited to hear it is working with Isabelle Lim, a photographer who works to raise awareness of special needs, to bring us a dining experience and photography exhibition. Dining With a Conscience will be running with two closed-door fundraising dinners, as well as public dining, all with a six-course dinner created by SUPRMRKT’s chef-owner, Joseph Yeo.

2. Catch a family-friendly musical
We’ve already been wowed by The Sound of Music and belly-laughed for hours at The Addams Family, and now WILD RICE are bringing another family theatre opp to Singapore with Mama White Snake. Based on an epic Chinese folk tale, the story is packed with mystery, music, mountains, martial arts and masters. Oh and a family hisss-tory of magical snakes.

3. Unleash your inner Anime character
The C3 Anime Festival Asia (C3 AFA) is bursting back into Singapore with more Anime fun than ever before. Expect blockbuster titles, exclusive content and merchandise direct from Japan, as well as a showcase of arts and plenty of cosplay for local content creators. Fans of animation and all things pop culture Japan, prepare to meet a wide variety of international guests, and be the first in the region to check out premiere screenings. 4. Inspire a love for music in your tots at the Babies’ Prom
The Singapore Symphony Orchestra (SSO) is back with the ever-popular Babies’ Proms with an amazing musical adventure for little ones to discover the fantastic world of the orchestra. Kiddos aged six and below will adore being part of the fun, and we love that the kids are not expected to sit still nor sit quietly in the concert hall! Pre-concert activities will be held 30 minutes before each of the respective shows.

5. Go to London’s Natural History Museum: here in Singapore!
No need to spend 14 hours on a plane to go see London’s Natural History Museum, because it’s coming here to see us in Singapore! Embark on an adventure of discovery when Treasures of the Natural World comes alive at ArtScience Museum this November with over 200 gems including animals, insects, art, minerals, books and artefacts, with selected treasure being brought to life through some seriously cool special effects.

6. Get your festive shopping started

7. Head to IKEA for a carnival
Mums and Dads, give the kids a break and have some fun at IKEA’s Let’s Play Carnival when IKEA Alexandra and IKEA Tampines will transform into a carnival for kids of all ages. Wander through the showrooms and play games, collect stamps and redeem prizes, and top it off with face painting, temporary tattoos, craft stations, balloon sculptures, free popcorn and cotton candy, and storytelling sessions! 8. Celebrate your grandparents on a special day out
The National Museum is turning its mind to the older generations here in Singapore, and celebrating all things grandparent by laying on a special day filled with music performances, stage games, competitions and a colouring workshop – just for grandparents! There’ll also be a Families for Life mobile cafe, bouncy castles and more.

9. Entertain the kids with a wild storytelling session
This week’s slice of storytelling adventure is a whole festival of tales with over 20 narrators from around the globe! Happening at one of our fave libraries, Tampines Regional Library, the 398.2 Storytelling Festival will bring our small bookworms tales of everything from Greek heroines to bedtime stories, and even a tale or two for the teens!

10. Become trash clean-up heroes
Gloves and garbage collection bags will provided for the Trash Hero beach clean-up sessions where kids (and adults) can come along and do their bit for the environment by keeping Singapore’s shorelines trash-free. There’s plenty of educational value to the missions too: guides will impart wise words about the impact that waste and rubbish has on the global environment, and how we can all play our part to help.
