Both new and existing families of the preschool will benefit from the ongoing campus renovation, which are equipped with world-class facilities.
We’ve just heard that St. Joseph’s Institution International Preschool has welcomed students and families to the new campus building – Shalom House – with renovations for a second building, Santo Bambino, now underway! Here’s what we know about the preschool’s new additions to its Holland Road campus.
Shalom House pays homage to the SJI International Preschool’s roots
Did you know that SJI International Preschool has over six decades of rich history? The preschool was previously known as Maris Stella Kindergarten, and was established by the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary. Shalom House was purposefully restored and renovated to honour its legacy.

The preschool has also beautifully integrated the building’s rich history with modern educational facilities to support its inquiry-based learning approach. Just like all of SJI International Preschool’s classrooms, the learning spaces in Shalom House are fit with multifunctional furnishing. There are also thoughtfully designed spaces, such as a story space and a Mandarin corner to support the preschool’s bilingual literacy programme.
Another newly renovated building will be ready by end 2026
Shalom House isn’t the only new building on the block – SJI International Preschool hopes to host its students in a new building named Santo Bambino (Italian for ‘the Christ Child’) by the end of 2026.

We’re told that families can expect the same state-of-the-art facilities as Shalom House in this new wing. It’ll also have learning spaces that are just as inviting as the rest of the preschool, all of which are made to foster creativity, curiosity, and collaboration among young children.
Being part of the Holland Road campus also means that both new buildings give children direct access to a rich variety of flora, fauna, and wildlife. The natural environment provides loads of exciting outdoor learning opportunities, including an urban farm where children can experience the ‘farm to table’ concept, as well as participate in eco-friendly and sustainable practices.

Pastoral care is at the heart of SJI International Preschool
Being a Lasallian school, SJI International Preschool places a strong emphasis on pastoral care. The preschool is committed to ensure each child feels a sense of value and love within its community. This is why character education is part of its curriculum, where children follow the Virtues Project, harnessing 22 of the global virtues (such as appreciation, helpfulness, unity, patience, respect – to name a few) that prepares them to be global citizens.
Keen to check out SJI International Preschool’s refreshed campus? You’ll be happy to know that the preschool hosts regular open houses throughout the year. You can check its website for the latest open house dates and register to attend. We also have an informative article about SJI International Preschool’s offerings, as explained by its Head of Preschool Dr. Geraldine Teo-Zuzarte, that you can read right here.
