Outstanding facilities, excellent communication, caring and passionate teachers – these are just some of the wonderful things that the Johnson family has to say about Nexus International School (Singapore). We’ve got their full review of the school right here.
When your child is happy and excited to attend school each day, you know you’ve found a school that fits them just right. In fact, Charlotte and Max Johnson even described it as a sort of ‘homecoming’ for their son Ollie when he joined Nexus International School (Singapore). Not only does Ollie enjoy his lessons, the couple could also tell that he feels seen, heard, and appreciated by his teachers and peers.
Needless to say, Charlotte and Max are delighted with their school choice. We recently spoke to the Johnsons to find out what makes Nexus a right choice for Ollie and their family, so read on for the deets.
What were you looking for in a school for Ollie?
We wanted a school where we knew Ollie would be happy to go to with a smile on his face every day. It should be a place where we can clearly envision him thriving as well as being truly cared for. For this, we look at two things: the quality of the teaching staff and facilities.
Why did Nexus stand out as a top choice?
We knew a number of other parents whose children attend Nexus. Seeing their children grow into lovely young adults, with each of them thriving in different ways, really gave us the confidence that Nexus is the right choice.
Ollie joined Nexus last year and recently progressed into kindergarten. Happy to share that we’ve never looked back, we’re really happy with our choice!
What do you like most about Nexus?
It’s the school’s wonderful community, caring and highly qualified teachers, and outstanding facilities for us. Everyone who is a part of the Nexus ecosystem is proactively going over and above to make sure every child grows in their own ways.
As for Ollie, his favourite thing about Nexus is definitely the outdoor playground and his lovely friends.

Can you tell us more about the curriculum and facilities available at Nexus?
Ollie is currently in Early Years, where Nexus uses a lot of play-based learning. We love this because it encourages him to be curious about the world around him. There’s also phonics with Little Wandle, lots of numeracy skill practices – both which we know sets strong foundations for Ollie for when he progresses to primary and secondary school. Speaking of which, we also chose Nexus because it offers IGCSE and IB at secondary school level.
As for the facilities, we really like that Nexus has a wide range of them across disciplines, as well as lots of outdoor space. This tells us that children are given opportunities to explore their interests, be it in sports, music, or the arts. There’s something for everyone: music studios, theatres, and an incredible swimming pool. It’s one of the schools with the most impressive facilities we’ve seen in Singapore. Plus they’re all so well maintained!
What do you value most about Nexus?
The excellent communication. We get frequent, transparent, and authentic communication from the school, and it’s clear that it’s always two steps ahead all of the time.
We also appreciate that the school builds a community for parents: you can be highly involved in school activities, observe from the sidelines, or just participate as and when while still feeling very welcomed. It’s also such a diverse school, with children and families from all over the world.
What advice would you give other parents who are looking for a school for their children?
Follow your gut instinct – ours said Nexus. Speak to parents across different year groups. If you know of any children who attend the school you’ve shortlisted, you can ask them what they think of the school too.
Many thanks for sharing your story with us, Charlotte and Max.
