GESS – International School prides itself in being its students’ families’ partner in education and children’s future.
As a leading holistic international school, GESS – International School sees itself not just as an education provider, but as a partner to families. This not-for-profit school is committed to helping its students develop a love for life-long learning, as well as equipping them with the necessary skills to succeed in the future. As such, GESS doesn’t just support its students in their academic development, but in soft skills and social-emotional development as well. In fact, the school goes the extra mile to support its students’ families too.
GESS gives new families and students a warm welcome as a community
Transitioning to a new school is never easy, and even more so when it’s a new school in a new country. On top of offering continuous enrolment for new families’ convenience (meaning a student can join at any point in the school year), GESS gives them a warm welcome through its holistic SureStart Orientation Programme. This orientation runs throughout the year, where your family can have a tour of the school, go through a family orientation together, and access useful resources online through GESS’ Online Orientation Portal. Both you and your child will be paired with GESS Buddies as well to help you navigate classes, school programmes, and even provide you tips on settling in Singapore.
Student well-being is a top priority at GESS
From pastoral care to rigorous campus security, GESS takes a 360° approach to student well-being. Homeroom teachers take the lead in providing pastoral care, building deep and trusting relationships with their students. The teaching and non-teaching staff – including well-being specialists, safeguarding specialists, counsellors, and more – come together to create a safe, fun, and intellectually stimulating environment for students to learn and grow in. Learning spaces are also designed to be age-appropriate and facilitate collaboration, encouraging a sense of community and belonging among students. There are also age-specific learning pods and breakout areas to enhance their learning and campus experience.
Learning can happen BeyondClassrooms at GESS
To future-proof students and prepare them for the real world, GESS has launched the BeyondClassrooms Programme, which allows them to learn from leading industry experts and academics. As an advocate for limitless learning, the school extends learning opportunities beyond the classroom walls with internship opportunities, industry talks, site visits, mock interviews, and more. The programme connects students to high-profile organisations like BMW Group Asia and Volocopter. The first BeyondClassrooms internship with BMW Group Asia recently kicked off in July 2022, with more exciting opportunities to come!
The school has a dedicated Career Counselling Team that prepares them for the future
From providing career guidance all year long to organising informative events, GESS’ Career Counselling Team is always there to support its High School students. The team is composed of experienced teachers who are also professionals in career counselling, making them the best people to go to should students need guidance on making informed decisions about their future studies and careers. The team has organised University Career Fairs (which saw participation from more than 70 academic institutions) and Career Information Exchange sessions that benefit both students and their families. The school’s Alumni Programme actively shares insights and personal experiences with current students as well.
