Gardens By the Bay's FEO Children's Playground
If you needed yet another reason to visit Gardens by the Bay, you just got it! Opening today, the newest kid on the block is brought to you by the Far East Organisation, and is located between the Cloud Forest and Satay by the Bay – FEO Children’s Playground. The enormous 1 hectare Far East Organisation Children’s Garden brings an exciting new family element to Gardens by the Bay and is especially created to increase nature’s interaction among two key age groups: the 1-5 year olds and the 6-12 year olds. Never before has playtime been more fun and interactive than it is now, all amid a stunning green backdrop.
Two key components here are water play and forest adventures – ‘hang out’ in tree houses, scale a green ridge or scuttle under a passage of arcing water jets.
Why come here when you can go to any other playground in Singapore? That’s because amazing fun aside, the incredibly well thought out play features encourage the physical, cognitive and social-emotional development of children, thereby improving physical dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
The Children’s Garden offers a total of 5 play areas:-
Toddler Play (1-5 year olds) – your little bubba won’t know where to start from between balancing beams, seesaws, sway bridges, slides, swings, toddler hammocks, stepping springs, a caterpillar trellis and a megaphone.
Fish Fountain (2-5 year olds) – Seventeen fish sculptures of varying sizes provide the illusion of fish swimming within the play surface. Toddlers have to mount the sculpted backs and dodge a series of water jets from the sculptures.
Water Play (6-12 year olds) – Water splines create a forest of ‘reeds’ that can spin 360 degrees from the top, like a water hose going nuts! A hydro vault and splash buckets complete the experience with a constantly changing series of water tunnels and water play effects, not to mention the infamous rainfall curtain.
The Tree houses (6-12year olds) – two tree houses (at top heights of 7.5m & 4m respectively) offer elevated platforms and shelters linked by timber and rope bridges. Each structure is a combination of branches made from web-like metallic frames and hanging rope baskets to provide suspended pockets of space. Just hang out!
Adventure Trail (6-12 year olds) – likened to a hiker’s trail, this green ridge mimics the natural landform with dips and humps, encouraging a variety of motor skills such as jumping, crossing, reaching up and over, and manoeuvring under a low branch. Some of the main features include a sway bridge, monkey bars, spider nets, a revolving disc, climbing rocks and balancing beams.
And that’s not all. Look out for clever plants such as the “Old Man Palm” at the main entrance, which looks like an old man with a thick beard.
All you need to do is show up is here for water play, forest adventure, a covered canopy Amphitheatre and the Children’s Garden Cafe for the perfect day out. Oh, and bring a towel!
Please note that the Children’s Garden is closed for maintenance every Monday.
