A deep commitment to ensure every child reaches their full potential while being happy and engaged learners are just some of the reasons why Australian International School earned this prestigious title…
In our search for the Singapore International School of the Year, we’re looking for an all-rounder school that parents and students love. The School of the Year should be forward-thinking in its view of education, embrace change, and always ready to adapt to meet the demands of our ever-changing world. We’re talking about a school that’s innovative with learning methods, as well as one that’s always giving its students a sense of agency to create and do extraordinary things.
With these in mind, it’s no surprise that Australian International School (AIS) came out tops this year…
Why Australian International School won Singapore International School of the Year
While AIS has amazing facilities and excellent academic results to boot, it’s important to note that these aren’t the only attributes that got it the prestigious title in the HoneyKids Asia Singapore Education Awards 2022. It’s the school’s commitment to ensure every student gets the opportunity to realise their full potential that really caught the judges’ eyes. To achieve this, AIS is committed to providing its students with exceptional opportunities and a nurturing environment.
Academic wellbeing is the name of the game
Every child’s emotional and academic wellbeing is taken into account at AIS. On top of providing world-class, holistic education to its students, the school carries out a C.A.R.E.S survey four times a year. Data pertaining to connection, attitude, relationship, engagement, and safety are captured through an online survey. This way, the school can find out how each student feels about school, relationships with their teachers and peers, as well as themselves. Students have access to speak to any significant adult within the school community as well, should they feel the need to.
On the academic side, students in Years 9-12 are tested through the Cambridge University Centre of Educational Monitoring assessment to find out their predicted grades. The data collected from this will give AIS’ teachers a comprehensive view of each student, everything from their learning styles, capabilities, and emotional state. The school also uses this data to create individualised plans for each student.
The outcome? Outstanding results in the IGCSE, IBDP, and HSC examinations. But we’re not just referring to the actual results, but the Value Added score generated from it (how a student performed vs. how they were predicted to perform). Whereas a ‘good school’ should achieve a Value Added score of 0, and an ‘exceptional school’ a score of 0.5-1.0, AIS’ Value Added score for the 2022 exams is 1.02. In simpler terms, this means a student achieved one full IB point or one IGCSE grade higher than predicted.
Why we love AIS
Can your child have the best of both worlds in terms of academic performance and social-emotional wellbeing? They definitely can at AIS! And that’s really what every parent wants for their child. We love that both academics and student wellbeing are equally as important to the educators at AIS. What’s more, the school has an impressive system to track and monitor every child’s academic wellbeing. Every AIS student has the best opportunity to reach their full potential.
Congratulations, Australian International School!
