We’re not exaggerating when we say that school life at Tanglin Trust School is dynamic and exciting. Students are spoilt for choice with over 400 co-curricular activities to choose from, with some even open to its Infant School – so every Tanglin student can participate!
Did you know that Tanglin Trust School’s students join an average of four clubs each? This is all thanks to the wide range of co-curricular activities (CCAs) the school offers – more than 400 of them! Coupled with the fact that time for CCAs are factored into school hours, it’s no wonder that Tanglin’s students are actively involved in clubs and sports. The numbers don’t lie: we’re talking 96% participation across all age groups, how amazing is that?
Every child at Tanglin can join a CCA

CCAs are commonly known as an integral part of school life for students in Infant or Junior school onwards. This is why Tanglin stands out, as even its youngest students in the Tanglin Infant School have access to over 50 fun CCAs. The best part is that there is a good mix of paid-for and free activities on offer!
If you’re wondering what types of CCAs can children as young as three participate in, rest assured that the school keeps them all age-appropriate. From gymnastics and musical classes conducted by specialist teachers, to fun ones like Construction Club (perfect for little ones who love tractors and excavators) and Chinese Cooking – there’s so much for kiddos to explore!
There are CCAs that bring learning to the great outdoors too

Another thing that makes school life at Tanglin so vibrant is its focus on outdoor education, which students are exposed to through academic lessons and CCAs. Similarly, children across all grade levels get to experience outdoor learning.
Students start their journey by exploring and connecting with nature through Tanglin Infant School’s Forest School programme. This is then followed by residential experiences in the Junior School, complemented by CCAs like British Scouting Overseas and the multi-faceted Junior Award Scheme (JAS) For Schools. The latter is particularly interesting as students don’t just take on outdoor challenges, but are exposed to sports, service learning, as well as a personal interest. Outdoor education in Senior School continues to develop resilience in students through CCAs that focus on outdoor skills (think: campfire cooking, first aid, and so on) and the pioneering five-week Tanglin Highlands Programme. This prepares them for greater and bigger adventures such as the Duke of Edinburgh’s (DofE) Award expeditions.
Most importantly, CCAs at Tanglin prepare young people for the real world.

Besides academics, the role of schools is ultimately to prepare our children for the real world. The right CCAs can act as avenues for real world exposure, and Tanglin has that covered too.
For example, Model United Nations (MUN) allows students to deep dive into real world issues; while the recent National STEM Racing competition gave Tanglin’s Nebula Team the chance to experience race car design, manufacturing, and racing – just like Formula 1 Racing. To add on the latter point, Nebula Team powered its way to an impressive second place finish!
Besides these, there is also an entrepreneurship programme that is unique to Tanglin, organised by The Institute @ Tanglin. This annual Entrepreneurship Programme is held over 16 weeks, where students get to work in teams supported by industry experts on a new business idea before a final pitch in front of a panel of judges. A great example of how this school helps students build future-ready skills.
