What Sets This School Apart
XCL World Academy places an emphasis on holistic development of every child. Academic development is as important as character development and we strive to build qualities like confidence, resilience and leadership in every student. EQ is as much sought after as IQ. And we believe that some of life’s most important lessons can be learned outside textbooks. That’s why we create a vibrant environment through countless opportunities in technology, sports, arts, innovation, community service and extracurricular activities.
To prepare students for an increasingly global world, we prize diversity and are proud to host students from over 60 nationalities, with no one dominant culture or background. Our world-class teachers are trained to identify each student’s special strengths, so we can create personalized pathways that recognize each student’s unique strengths. All this makes XCL World Academy a truly international school that prepares students to stay a few steps ahead of the future.
Exciting New Developments
NEW CHINESE (MANDARIN) – ENGLISH BILINGUAL PROGRAMME
Introduction of a unique Chinese (Mandarin) – English Bilingual Programme starting in August 2021 for Pre-K, KG1 and KG2 students in addition to our daily Mandarin Programme in the Nursery. This new offering is designed to allow non-native Mandarin speakers to have a rigorous introduction to Mandarin during their foundation years and provides students with the opportunity to acquire the skills for speaking, reading, writing, listening and communicating in both English and Mandarin.
COMPLIMENTARY EXTENDED CARE PROGRAMME
We are planning a new extended care programme starting with our Nursery and Pre-K students* from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm at no additional cost for the first year.
*The offer is only available to students enrolling/enrolled for a FULL-DAY Nursery and Pre-K Programme.
NEW ESPORTS PROGRAMME – A FIRST AMONG INTERNATIONAL SCHOOLS IN SINGAPORE
We will be introducing a student-run eSports programme. This first of its kind offering will allow our students to not only explore eSports for recreation and vocation but also develop critical skills such as leadership, teamwork, and discipline. We are in advanced talks with some of the leaders in the eSports industry to help support and drive this programme.
UNIVERSITY AND CAREER GUIDANCE PROGRAMME ENHANCEMENT
University & Career Guidance will be introduced, starting from Grade 8, a first in Singapore. A highly experienced counsellor has been brought in to help students start early in Grade 8 to learn more about their interests, talents, and passions and explore education and career pathways. Starting this process early ensures that our students have a long runway to explore, research, and experiment in order to confidently make fully informed decisions about their future.
PREMIER EDUCATIONAL PARTNERSHIP PROGRAMME
We are expanding academic pathways, and we are finalizing partnerships with top global schools for college-level credit programmes, open to both IBDP and IBCP students. This will give our students a head start in tertiary education.
SECONDARY YEARS PROGRAMME ENHANCEMENTS
Separated streams for IGCSE and MYP will be introduced, and subject offerings in MYP and IGCSE will be expanded over time to include business, physics, chemistry, biology and the arts. Giving parents and students flexible options to select learning tracks while enjoying a wide base of academic course offerings.
NEW MYP EASSESSMENTS
The MYP eAssessment will be introduced to allow students in the middle years to demonstrate key skills and be awarded the IB MYP Certificate. The MYP eAssessment is purposefully designed to reflect the flexible curriculum framework in the MYP. It serves as an equivalent alternative to other types of examinations for Grade 10 students, pushes students well beyond the rote memorisation of subject-specific content, and lays a solid foundation for the rigorous IB Diploma. Improving the way we monitor our students’ educational progress helps them prepare for key milestones.
NEW SPORTS FACILITIES
Subject to approval from authorities, new tennis courts, running track, baseball and cricket batting nets will be introduced over the next academic year, allowing our budding athletes to enjoy a wider offering of sports activities.
NEW DEDICATED HIGH SCHOOL BLOCK
We are planning to build a dedicated and purpose-built new High School Block with age-level appropriate specialist classrooms. This block will include a large and dedicated IB DP student common area and highly unique specialist areas, including university and careers counselling centre, science labs, an eSports arena, computer coding labs and next-generation technology-equipped classrooms to accommodate hybrid learning models. Additionally, there will be general enhancements throughout the campus over the coming 24 months. This will create the ideal environment for our students to thrive.
