If you’ve ever thought the perfect day out with the kids would involve Santa in a scuba suit and your family becoming Pokémon research scientists, congratulations: you have a strong imagination. And funnily enough, we have just the thing for you! This Christmas, the magic of the festive season meets the wonders of the ocean in Merry Fishmas, and you can catch the Pokémon Research Exhibition at the same time. That’s right, everything you’ve ever – or perhaps never, which is okay too – dreamed of is happening right now at S.E.A. Aquarium. It’s always a good idea to fill your Santa sack with plenty of tricks when it comes to entertaining the kids during weekends and school holidays, so this one’s a winner!
Personally, we just can’t wait to see Santa delivering presents to all the fish of the underwater world, but here’s the lowdown on everything you can do (and learn!) with the family during this very Merry Fishmas…
Ask Mrs Santa to teach you everything she knows about ocean conservation
This lady must have a million stories to tell, but this is one really, really worth listening to – her aim is to inspire kids to step up their conservation efforts through fun and enchanting tales. A must do! Find out where and when you can catch Mrs Santa here.
Join Scuba Santa and Elf as they do their very important annual job
Back by popular demand, Scuba Santa and Elf will feed the marine life from a giant gift box! They’ll appear in a few different habitats in the aquarium, so make sure the kids keep their eyes peeled. It sure beats a shopping centre Santa snap.
Become Pokémon researchers for a day
Singapore is lucky enough to host the Pokémon Research Exhibition for the first time outside Japan, so it’s one not to be missed! Kids (otherwise known as Pokémon Trainers) will go on a hunt to identify the Pokémon in their selected Poké Ball using Pokémon Observation Machines. It all sounds very official and important indeed, and should be loads of fun for the whole family!
Hit the Enchanted Sea Trail
Grab an activity card for each of the kids and hit the trail in search of the marine animals that inspired Water Type Pokémon! You never know what you might find.
Learn about sea life at the Sea Protector Activity Stations
Brush up on your knowledge of why certain marine animals, such as sharks, rays and corals are endangered, and more importantly, find out what you can do to help. Collect chops along the way on the kids’ activity booklet, and they might just pick up a nifty little gift!
Hit the Fishmas Crafts Corner
Kids can colour in their own Fishmas ornament for the Enchanted Fishmas Trees, and use what they’ve learned about sea life to make a Christmas wish for the oceans!
Fa la la la la your way through the day while meeting all the stars of the show
Of course, no festive occasion would be complete without carol singing performances and appearances by Mr and Mrs Santa, who’ll be joined by Mai the Manta Mascot and Pikachu! Check out the program schedule here.
