What’s On This Week: 18 24 Nov 2013
Put on your dancing shoes because we’ve got just the party for you to shimmy away with your littlies! Other treats this week include kids-friendly musicals, a world of surreal folk tales, enthralling puppet shows, a sleepover in the animal kingdom, and some awesome Christmas shopping (time to start making headway on our Christmas shopping lists!) – all wrapped up in our things to do this week.
HoneyKids, in collaboration with Zouk, presents daytime dance prance ZOUKIDISCO! Boogie with your kiddos to beats from neighbourhood DJ Hero, while sipping on a complimentary non-alcoholic drink. Loads of family-friendly surprises are in store so make it a family affair!
Bring the littlies out for a dose of local talent! Wild Rice Productions presents Jack & The Bean Sprout– their rendition of renowned children fable Jack & The Beanstalk, with a dash of Singaporean flavour. This musical-comedy-pantomime will illustrate the importance of dreams, warmth of a mother’s love and the perils of gambling.
With songs written by acclaimed songwriter, Dick Lee, and featuring an international cast of West End performers, LightSeeker is a musical the whole family shouldn’t miss! Be captivated by memorable melodies, epic battles, and heart-stopping live-action stunts.
Esplanade Concert Hall transforms into a Carnival of the Animals, where lions, kangaroos, turtles, and other animals come to life through the use of puppets of all sizes! Singapore Symphony Orchestra will provide the accompaniment of classic melodies from Camille Saint-Saëns’s original score.
Listen to enchanting forest fables like The Indigo Jackal and The Hornbill and the Bulbul, brought to life by renowned storyteller Kamini Ramachandran. Accompanied by technicoloured sand and light, as well as forest soundscapes, the littlies will be thoroughly entertained by the mystical Indian folk tales.
Get ready for a slumber party like no other at the Singapore Zoo! Sleep with the Beasts Camp is great for families with kids aged 3 to 12 years old. Learn about fascinating animals, soak in the atmosphere of the wild and camp out beneath a blanket of stars (each family will be pitching their own 6-man tent!).
Santa will be in town this week to see who’s been naughty or nice! Head to Tanglin Mall to get up close and personal with Santa in a magical Christmas setting, and have a photograph taken by on-site photographers as a take-home souvenir.
Start checking off your Christmas shopping list cause there’s a chock full of Christmas fairs happening this week! Pick up great art pieces without breaking the bank at Affordable Art Fair, while the littlies expand their creativity at the fair’s Children’s Art Studio. Look out for handcrafted jewellery, festive ornaments, unique arts and crafts and many fab gift ideas at the other bazaars.
