1. Saddle up at the Singapore Horse Show!
Trot over to the Bukit Timah Saddle Club this weekend for a fun-packed two days of pony rides and races, dog agility comps, tractor riding, live music and even human showjumping at the Singapore Horse Show!

3. Be serenaded by the Singapore Symphony Children’s Choir at the park
No need to shell out tons of dollars for a musical the kids will fidget their way through anyway: head to this free concert for kids, performed by kids, instead. The Singapore Symphony Children’s Choir will be belting out family faves such as Over the Rainbow, and Climb Ev’ry Mountain at the Botanical Gardens. Pack a picnic and enjoy!

4. Be spellbound by Harry Potter-inspired music

5. Enjoy a fiesta for pets!

6. Join a free watercolour workshop for kids
Kiddos age seven to 12 years are in for an arty treat at this free watercolour painting techniques workshop. Talented students from Montfort Junior School will be leading the session and helping budding artists discover their creativity.

7. Make a lightsaber at Zouk for a good cause!
The whole family will love Beyond Social Services’ outreach initiative, Fairground, which is aimed at raising awareness on social issues such as poverty here in Singapore. Entrance is free, but buy a stash of coupons for the fun activities: all proceeds go directly towards Beyond’s amazing local programmes. Check out the lightsaber making workshop (we are so there), bouncy castle, flea market, carnival games, virtual reality experiences and try your luck at winning some cool prizes!

8. Join the Paw Patrol gang at City Square Mall
Keep the kids busy throughout September over at City Square Mall with a series of live shows featuring hounds of the moment, Paw Patrol. Little ones can even shake paws with Chase and Marshall at a meet-and-greet session!

9. See Shakespeare come to life
Join performers from ACS Independent Stage, who are making Shakespeare relatable for all ages through the use of handmade sets, props, funny accents and a great big dose of slapstick humour. The session features a performance of Pyramus and Thisbe, the play-within-a-play from Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and a look at a short study entitled Family, which tackles the minefield of family dynamics and social expectations.

10. Give the kids a crash-course in Scratch
Keep kids age seven to 12 busy for four weekends in a row on one of Saturday Kids’ fab Beginners Scratch courses. Small techies will learn all things Scratch (a visual programming language for those of you who, like us, aren’t sure!), and try their hand at a spot of coding too. By the end of the course, expect your child to be a Scratch guru, able to create animations and games using programming language. Impressive! 11. Create a clay masterpiece at the National Gallery
Free clay craft? Yes, please! Join renowned ceramic artist, Iskandar Jalil, for a 20-minute drop-in session where kiddos age four and above can create a personalised bowl or plate using modelling clay.

12. Climb Mount Faber for a family-friendly fun fest
If you are looking for some family-friendly activities including workshops, performances and nostalgic interactive games this weekend, then ditch your cars and head up to the Mount Faber Loop for the Let’s Lepak festival. We hear that there is a great nature walk happening along the Southern Ridges, and for family members keen to break out a compass and map, there is a fun-packed orienteering activity to join in with too! Make sure to watch out for the roving percussion performers who will be entertaining around the Loop, but thankfully you won’t have to look out for traffic: Mount Faber is going car-free for the day!

We love the idea of getting our kiddos keen to learn martial arts, so were super happy to hear of a free open day this weekend for our little ones to try out a spot of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at! East Coast martial arts academy, The Gentle Art, is hosting an action-packed day to inspire children from age three and upwards to develop physical skills through play while learning a form of self-defence involving zero striking or kicking (no awkward playground moments when your budding Bruce Lee practises kicks on classmates!). Join the academy this Saturday where you will find not only a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu competition going on, but also balloon sculpting, face painting and games too!
