It’s never too early to add a little learning to your baby’s life, and what better way to do so than through an uber-fun playgroup at Tea & Tots!
Even at such a young age, your baby is constantly absorbing new information, even through play! The folks over at the Integrated International School (IIS) understand this all too well, and they’ve come up with an all new adult-accompanied playgroup especially for bubs aged 8- 18 months. We got a sneak peek of how the programme has taken playdates to the next level and why you need to head down with your baby, pronto.

A mama at the helm
Tea & Tots, the new baby playgroup under IIS Foundations (its early years programme) is meant to help your baby learn through play, while us supervising adults are treated to an afternoon boost of tea and biscuits! A great introduction for little ones to get used to a school environment, the programme offers a seamless integration to the Little Tykes curriculum launching in January 2018, IIS’s new toddler drop-off nursery for children aged 18 months-3.5 years. Tea & Tots is also the brainchild of IIS principal and founder Dr Vanessa Von Auer. A mother of two young kids and a recognised clinical psychologist specializing in children, Vanessa started Tea & Tots as a result of her desire to provide a fun space for her eight-month-old to play with mama nearby. So rest assured that Tea & Tots has got a real mama’s stamp of approval!
Learn hard, play even harder!
Rooted in thematic and play-based learning, sessions at Tea & Tots are more structured than your average play date at home, but designed to be equally engaging. Expect activities like circle time, magical stories, music and movement, and arts and crafts being built into the 75 minute class. Recognizing how important sensorial development is to a baby’s growth, sensorial play is also a big part of the programme. Picture your wee ones putting their little hands into materials such as paint, sand, clay and fabric, looking at shimmering images and sorting through colourful shapes. They’ll also get to experience a first-of-its-kind Ocean Snoezelen Room, a unique sensory room amongst Singapore’s international schools where soothing tunes are played for their listening pleasure. Of course, these are all done in the care of experienced educators to ensure absolute safety for your babes.
All in the family
Not only is Tea & Tots an opportunity for little ones to play and socialise, it’s also a great way to meet fellow parents and caretakers. We all know how parenting can make you want to tear your hair out (but please don’t!), so a support group of mums and dads who share the same struggles can be a huge help. The sessions may even be a chance for your bub to get to know the extended fam better – grandparents, helpers, and even aunts and uncles are welcome to come along and watch the family’s latest addition having a ball!
Tea & Tots and Little Tykes are now welcoming parent/caregiver and baby/toddler sign-ups. Register now at https://iiswebacc.wixsite.com/iisfoundations
For more information about Little Tykes, there will also be a coffee morning at the school on 4 November at 10-11am.
