Tanglin Trust School just keeps making itself bigger and better, and the newest addition to its campus? A sparkling new Junior Arts Centre! The original building, which was shared by Juniors and Seniors, has been completely revamped to provide further exposure to the creative arts, which the school believes is crucial for its students’ growth. Tanglin’s CEO Craig Considine shared, “Providing our students with expanded creative opportunities, deeper artistic skills, and richer cultural understanding is precisely what they require to flourish in our rapidly evolving world.” Read on to find out what the Junior Arts Centre has in store.
It’s filled with brand new world-class facilities

Tanglin’s Head of Junior School, Clair Harrington-Wilcox, described the Junior Arts Centre as being “born from a simple yet powerful idea”. And what is that? Simply that every child deserves a safe space where they can express themselves freely and creatively. Indeed, the entire centre has been specially curated to offer dedicated spaces for different arts — be it music, dance, art, drama, or sport.
The centre has four new music classrooms as well as large rehearsal spaces. The dance studio has a professional fully sprung dance floor, on top of a dedicated Junior Black Box Theatre for Tanglin’s shining stars. The art studio is spacious and flooded with natural light, upping the ante with integrated technology that allows specialist art teachers to project their works onto a main screen for students to model after.

Believe it or not, but the library contains more than 10,000 books! Complete with cosy reading alcoves, the star of the show is a beautiful reading tree. If students prefer a quieter space to get lost in their books, they can retreat to the Story House.
This all surrounds J:Hub, a vibrant central performance space where students and faculty members can meet and share ideas. It also plays host to open mic sessions during playtime, and brings the space to life with informal music, drama, poetry, and reading events.

Fun fact: J:Hub was named by Tanglin students, and was chosen through a democratic vote among the student body. We love how the school got its whole community involved in the development of this special creative space.
Besides its dedication to the performing arts, the Junior Arts Centre also houses the Junior Athletic Development gym where students can work on their core strength, balance, and coordination. This demonstrates that creativity and movement go hand in hand.
Check out the Junior Arts Centre’s grand launch

The centre was officially opened on 20 August 2025 by Ms Lena Ching, Deputy Associate Dean for the School of Music at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA). All guests (including us) were treated to a tour of the centre where we got to see learning in action. The tour was then followed by a stunning neoclassical ballet performance, Two Is One, danced by Sabril Amin and Yu Xin Tan from NAFA in the Black Box Theatre.
