Read on and find out why Toby and Jodie Jones chose Shaws Preschool for their two children, Josh and Olivia
Ask any teacher and they’ll tell you that the early years matter — they determine the trajectory of your child’s education! And that means that it’s gotta get the thumbs up from all parties involved, including the kiddos. We recently spoke to the Jones family, who’s given Shaws Preschool a glowing review. For the Joneses, its nurturing community and dedicated teaching staff have made going to school an amazing learning experience for their kids, Josh and Olivia. Read on to find out what else they had to say about Shaws’ unique play-based preschool…
Hi, Toby and Jodie! What made you choose Shaws Preschool?
We love the community and family focus at the school, from Uncle Zhang who greets us every day at the gate to the teachers who are brilliant with the kids; the energy is wonderful. One thing that was important to us is outdoor play, and at Shaws, the kids get plenty of variety, from sports to messy play and sports days. Shaws’ learning through play curriculum was also a large part of our decision — we really want them to have fun while learning.
What we love about Shaws is the flexibility they have; last year was a testament to how quickly they supported kids and parents during lockdown and the gradual return to school. It was clear how much our kids loved school as they couldn’t wait to get back!
Liane (Shaws Preschool Director of Fun!) and her team do a wonderful job of listening and supporting families with whatever they’re facing; this is something we feel is extra special and we are fortunate to have available to us as a part of the Shaws family.
What about Josh and Olivia, what do they love most about going to school?
Our kids both love sports, cookery and drama; the variety of skills they learn is fantastic. They also love Chinese; their teachers are really engaging, and they are always singing their favourite songs and love being part of the school Chinese New Year celebrations.
How have the school’s facilities and the curriculum benefitted your children?
The facilities are great, there’s loads of outdoor space and activities for them to play in, lots of outdoor activity, as well as Little League Sports Coaching. We appreciate how the curriculum is really varied and keeps the kids engaged all year round.
Do you have any advice for other parents trying to choose a school?
Figure out what’s important for your kids first and foremost, and get a feel for the schools… visit them, speak to the teachers and have a chance to see the environment. Our best advice is go with your gut; don’t overcomplicate things — just choose the school that ‘feels right’.
Thank you, Toby and Jodie!
