Fancy giving your children the experience of a lifetime these school holidays? This summer camp in Thailand offers new friends, beautiful mountain scenery and fun activities galore: what more could a bored kid want during their school holiday?
Are your kids ready for a school holiday summer camp adventure? Most of us here at HoneyKids sadly never knew the joys of summer camp. Instead, we wistfully curled up with The Baby-Sitters Club books and got lost in a faraway world of canoeing, campfire sing-alongs, marshmallow toasting (s’mores, anyone?), and lifelong friendship-making. But all is not lost! Now, we can live vicariously through our kids – well, those of us with children aged 8-16 can – by bundling them off to iCamp Thailand for the school holidays… and perhaps sneaking into the back row at movie night. Just perhaps.
This is the first American style residential summer camp in the Asia-Pacific region – and a rare opportunity for kids and teens to unplug from technology, make friends from all over the world, learn new skills, and embrace the kind of community spirit that only happens at camp!
iCamp Thailand is situated in the beautiful mountainous region of Kanchanaburi, around 150km from Bangkok, so it’s super easy to get to from Singapore. There are three different session dates to choose from, so if this is your child’s first summer camp they can ease into things with one of the three-week sessions, or go for a full six-week stint from 25 June until 6 August. Once they settle in, kids are kept fully entertained with a jam-packed schedule of activities. They can try their hand at painting, photography, dance, music, circus skills, and of course, a whole bunch of sports such as tennis, archery, golf, horse riding, and football.
It doesn’t have to be all fun and games (sorry kids), as there’s also an education program for those who opt in. This helps keep keen beans from losing all the progress they’ve made during the school year, which is especially great for children with learning difficulties or language challenges. The international team of staff at iCamp Thailand is well qualified to teach and guide kids through the many activities, making sure everyone’s a happy camper.
Aside from fun activities and lots of new international friends, what will your kids get out of going to camp? They’ll further develop their independence and tolerance, fuel their curiosity by trying plenty of new things, and get a good feel for what they truly love to do. They’ll also get to explore some of the history and culture of Thailand with amazing weekend activities such as visits to the bridge over the River Kwai and the war museum, plus bamboo rafting and canoeing. We think it sounds like a pretty special way to spend the summer holidays, and we’re seriously contemplating smuggling ourselves in. Who’s with us?
NOTE: we’ve just heard that the first three-week session and the six-week session are both fully booked. So be quick to nab one of the remaining spots in the second session which runs 16 July-6 August!
