Oodles of fun with noodles
We heard word on the street that a new and exciting kids play centre has opened up on the East Coast. Kaboodle Kids is a unique space for little ones filled with giant blue foam blocks and noodles for kids to build, create (and smash down!). Based on “Imagination Playground” in New York, Tan Mui Jin had the vision to bring this fab child-directed play idea to Singapore. We had to head down and check it out, and from the moment we walked in we were impressed.
The venue is absent of the cluttered, loud, garishly-coloured hallmarks of your usual kids play centre. It’s obvious that a great deal of thought has gone in to creating a space that is appealing to both kids and adults. We took a perch on the comfy seats while our little learners sprinted to the nearest pile of blocks.
It was fascinating watching the cogs in their minds tick over as they tried to figure out which block to place on which noodle to create their dream cubby house, flower forest or castle. And if they got a little frustrated realizing their vision, an adult Play Associate was never far away to lend a helping hand.
After an hour spent watching and helping the children build and annihilate awesome constructions, it became pretty clear why Imagination Playground has a popular following around the globe, especially in New York and Korea. All aspects of a child’s physical and mental development are engaged in this entertaining, endlessly changing and challenging activity.
What we really LOVED about this place was that there are no rules, and no wrong way to play and create. Kids are actively encouraged to go wild, have fun and to let their creative juices flow. Total freedom and fun coupled with learning.
Kaboodle Kids also host parties, catered and non-catered, and are open to menu ideas (provided it’s yummy and healthy, no deep fried stuff!).
