Since its debut in 2022, Nimbu has emerged as one of Singapore’s most exciting sustainable fashion brands. We talk about all things circular fashion, and the future of Nimbu, with the lovely Founder, Kriti Gupta.
Nimbu began as a circular label for kids’ clothing, and has now blossomed into a thriving lifestyle brand. Known for its artisan-made pieces, eco-conscious approach, and vibrant cultural storytelling, in just three years, since our last chat with Kriti Gupta, a lot has changed. Nimbu has expanded its reach across categories, continents, and even made its runway debut, with much more to come. Here’s a look at how far Nimbu has come in such a short time, and where what’s on the horizon for this exciting homegrown label!
A circular fashion brand that’s changing how families shop
At Nimbu, circularity isn’t just a buzzword. It’s the foundation of the brand. From the start, Nimbu’s awesome “Return & Earn” program encouraged customers to return pre-loved Nimbu clothes in exchange for credits, helping to close the loop on textile waste. Since 2022, with the focus on circular fashion Nimbu has helped avoid over 600 kg of textile waste, thanks to a growing community of conscious families.
In fact, nearly 40% of repeat customers have used the circular program, proving that sustainability and style can (and should) go hand in hand. Kriti says “Our customers tell us they feel better buying from a brand that offers both high-quality clothing and a guilt-free way to pass it on. It’s fashion that grows with your child, and with your values.”
New Categories: Kidswear, women’s casual-wear and cheongsams

Originally launched with thoughtfully designed kidswear, Nimbu quickly became known for premium cotton fabrics, heritage-inspired prints, and beautiful tailoring that respects both culture and comfort. As moms fell in love with the quality and prints, the next question came naturally: “Can we wear this too?” So in 2024, Nimbu launched a casual womenswear collection. Think breezy dresses, cotton co-ords, and relaxed fits perfect for Singapore’s weather and busy lifestyles. These pieces were designed to transition effortlessly from school runs to dinners, and they quickly became bestsellers!
This year, Nimbu also introduced a brand-new category, premium cotton Cheongsams and matching family wear. Inspired by Singapore’s multicultural spirit, these Chinese-style dresses blend tradition with tropical-friendly comfort and quickly became a festive favourite (also because they had pockets!).
Walking the talk (and the runway!)

One of the Nimbu team’s proudest moments this year was taking part in Nimbu’s first runway show! Showcased as part of Eco Fashion Weekend, the collection featured everything from botanical family co-ords to slow-made festive wear. It was a major milestone, not just because of the runway, but because Nimbu could bring the brand values of sustainability, slow fashion, and craftsmanship into the spotlight.
Hello India: Circular fashion launch in the Motherland, with expanded Singapore retail presence

In 2025, Nimbu is going to cross a big border, launching in India to bring their signature circular fashion model to a new generation of eco-conscious families. For the Nimbu team, launching in India is deeply personal. It’s where Nimbu’s team of artisans live, where their beautiful cottons are woven, and where Nimbu’s Founder, Kriti’s story began. It’s not just a market; it’s a homecoming. In Singapore, the brand has always had a strong digital presence, but this year there’s been major moves made into in-person retail experiences. Nimbu debuted at Boutique Fairs Singapore in March 2025 and will return with the next highly-anticipated Holiday themed collection at the November 2025 edition. Something new is coming!
Keep an eye on Nimbu’s Instagram for the in-person events at both permanent retail locations Design Orchard and The Green Collective for Racial Harmony Day celebrations in July as well as an upcoming pop-up at TANGS VivoCity from 28 August to 10 September 2025. Whether it’s a curated boutique setting or a retail giant like TANGS, Nimbu is intent on creating immersive experiences that let customers feel the fabric, hear the story, and be part of the movement.
Celebrate Racial Harmony Month and Deepavali the ‘Circular Way’

As Singapore gears up for Racial Harmony Day on 21 July, now’s the perfect time to pick up beautiful, age-appropriate ethnic wear for your little ones, and Nimbu makes it easy, affordable, and sustainable. IT’s a great time to take advantage of Nimbu’s Return & Earn model! You can buy your child’s outfit for school celebrations, and once the event is over, simply return it for store credits. Those credits can then go toward a fresh festive look for Deepavali, or family-matching outfits for another big celebration, like Christmas, Chinese New Year, and Hari Raya. It’s a smart way to dress for every occasion without wasting money (or adding to landfills!)
Coming this October, Nimbu is launching a brand-new Deepavali ethnic wear collection. As always, the designs will showcase thoughtful craftsmanship, breathable cottons, and heritage-inspired prints in vibrant, festive colours perfect for the season. Whether you’re dressing up for a temple visit, a family dinner, or a school event, Nimbu has you (and your kids) covered. We love that this is festive fashion that grows with your child, and your calendar!
What’s next for Nimbu in 2025 and beyond?
Nimbu continues to be focused on scaling sustainably and creatively. Here’s what’s on the horizon, according to Kriti:
1. Tech-enabled circularity: We’re building a better digital platform to make returns and resale smoother for customers across regions.
2. More lifestyle categories: Think matching Christmas holiday clothing, resort looks, and even accessories that carry our signature prints and slow design ethos.
3. Regional expansion: With Singapore and India well underway, we’re eyeing markets in Southeast Asia and the Middle East.
4. Community collaborations: Partnering with like-minded creators, designers, and local changemakers to tell powerful, shared stories.
5. Taking circularity global: With government support and retail interest growing, we’re in early talks to showcase Nimbu at international fashion and sustainability expos.
Why we love Nimbu: A brand with heart, history, and a mission
At its core, Nimbu is about celebrating the beauty of culture, childhood, and craft, without creating waste or sacrificing comfort. Sustainable fashion can be joyful, inclusive, and stylish, not just for special occasions, but for everyday life! From Singapore to India and beyond, the brand is building a movement that honours the past, respects the planet, and dresses the future, one soft cotton kurta, one hand-blocked dress, and one cheongsam at a time.
