From inclusive musical performances to immersive theatre experiences, it’s no wonder this lively children’s festival is a popular one among families in Singapore.
Mark your calendars this March, as the vibrant March On children’s festival will be returning to Esplanade – Theatres by the Bay!
Running from 7 till 29 March 2025, March On 2025 continues to encourage little ones to dream big and explore through a curated list of performances and artistic installations. We also love that many of its programmes are inclusive, designed to cater to diverse age groups, backgrounds, and abilities.
Excited for the upcoming March On events? We are too! Here are our top picks:
1. Pram People

“It’s the first time I’m seeing an activity that involves every parent’s BFF – the pram! Some kids regard prams as their comfort zone, especially when visiting new places. So this one really stood out for me as it allows kids to participate from their safe space. Plus, ‘glamming’ the prams up with bright colours will make it super fun. I’m sure my two kids will enjoy this!”
– Syaz, HoneyKids Editor

2. Biru and the Deep Blue Sea
“I love stories like Biru and the Deep Blue Sea. This musical performance tells the story of how Biru goes on an adventure through coral reefs, underwater caves, and different cultural landscapes to find himself and his home. I think experiencing stories like these is important and relevant for kids as they mature and start to define their own identities. I especially like that the show blends live orchestral music and storytelling, making it an engaging and memorable way for audiences to connect with the action on stage.”

3. A Drop in the Ocean

“A Drop in the Ocean is my top pick! I find that the immersive aspect makes it really appealing, even more so for babies and toddlers who will benefit from the sensory interactions. This multi-disciplinary experience will show little ones the magic and mysteries of the ocean through music, sound, as well as movement that mimic whales calling and fishes leaping. This is an ideal show that’ll let their imagination run free!”
– Raiz, Junior Lifestyle Writer

4. Goldfish

“You could tell from the synopsis that Goldfish is going to be a thrilling performance for the kids. As the story goes, kids will get to see the theatre suddenly transform into an emergency centre due to a flood warning: like a blue tarpaulin becoming the ocean, and rice bags as sandbags to hold back the rising waters. I can already picture my kid getting absorbed into the action and really enjoying this!”
– Esther, Associate Editor

5. The Lost Lending Library

“This is another one that I’m excited about. The Lost Lending Library sounds like a magical world that every book-loving kid would love to be in. My little one has just started her reading journey, and I can’t wait to see her imagination widen further as she explores this enchanted library and helps the librarian collect new stories in this immersive theatre show.”

But wait, there’s more!
Performances aside, March On will also feature an interactive installation at the Esplanade Courtyard. Titled Itchy Fingers 1, 2, 3!, this sculpture garden is made from everyday objects (like bottles, electrical fan parts, and even coconuts!) to spark curiosity through movement, sound, and light. You can explore it every Friday to Sunday between 5-9pm, from 7 till 23 March 2025, and even see it come to life with short performances every Saturday evening.
Kids get to play and learn too

As part of the SG60 celebrations, Esplanade also has the PLAYtime! theatre series running alongside the March On festivities. This series brings local storybooks to life this year, starting with The Bird Who Was Afraid of Heights. This is a tale of courage and friendship, where kids will see how Eddie the mynah bird overcomes his fear of heights to rescue his friend from the big, black crow. Not only will the little ones get to interact with the show’s characters, but they’ll also learn how to be confident in themselves. This show is on our HoneyKids Editor’s must-watch list too!
When: Various timings from 28 February – 16 March 2025
Where: Esplanade Theatre Studio
Price: $23, purchase here.
Suitable for: Kids aged three to six
